NBA All-Star Game Odds: West Slight Favorites
Game Reverts Back to Traditional East vs West Format

After dismal television ratings last year, the NBA decided to move back to the traditional All-Star Game format. It’s no longer Team LeBron vs Team Giannis or anything like that. The 2024 NBA All-Star Game moves back to the East vs West format. Whether that’s enough to bring viewers back is up in the air.
But the league knew it had to do something. The league didn’t have to worry too much about bettors tuning in. It’s the only game on the NBA schedule that day and NBA betting odds were posted on the game, dunk contest, 3-point contest and more. This year is no exception.
The 2024 NBA All-Star Game odds have the West team favored by 2.5 points and the total is a lofty 364 points.

West Team Deserves to be Favored
The NBA All-Star Game odds of West -2.5 makes sense in this game. The West won the last three games under the old format and six of the last seven games. The West team also has a few more bigger names, which is a factor in All-Star betting.
A team with names like LeBron, Luka Doncic or Nikola Jokic is going to get more attention than a team with an injured Joel Embiid. That’s just the nature of bettors. But the game is being played in an Eastern team’s arena. That could at least spark a little bit of effort from some of the East players, which is all you can ask.

Total Could be Too High
The NBA All-Star Game odds on the total might be a shade high based on previous games. You have to go back to the 2017 All-Star Game to find the last time more than 364 points were scored in an NBA game. That also happens to be the last year the East vs West format was used.
The over has won four of the last five games. But the highest total on those games was 325. This one is a significant step up from those numbers. And it opened at 361 and has already been bet up.
Who to Bet On?
The All-Star is a bit of a guessing game from a betting perspective. There’s little question about that. There’s no such thing as NBA expert picks for the All-Star Game. But it’s still a fun game for NBA diehards. And some people are going to be placing wagers on the game.
From a value standpoint, the under is probably the way to look at the game. But the total has moved up since it was released. So, somebody likes the over. But it’s simply too hard to play the over knowing you need 7.6 points scored every minute.
