NBA Monday Matchup Odds: Potent Offenses to Produce High Scores

Most Games Tonight Feature High Totals

NBA Odds Have Five of Seven Games at 235 Points+

The NBA’s lofty scoring numbers continue this Monday night with six of the seven NBA games lined to produce these types of games. Combined with the point spreads, the NBA Monday matchup odds expect at least one team from all seven games to feature a team that hits the 120-point mark.

Three of the NBA’s top five offenses play along with seven of the league’s eight worst defenses. Start the week with scorers’ delight.

Road Favorites Feature Some Title Contenders

Four of the seven road teams are favored per the NBA Monday matchup odds. The pair of the Milwaukee Bucks (-11) and the Boston Celtics (-8), two of the league’s top title contenders, are the largest favorites as visitors. The Bucks visit the Orlando Magic and Boston will be in Detroit.

Boston has the NBA’s best record (35-12) but is just 11-11 against the spread (ATS) as a road favorite. The Celtics still maintain a potent offense while traveling and rank third in offensive rating (114.8). Their defense is also top three in rating and they allow just 112.2 points as a visitor.

Versus Orlando, these teams have the lowest total of the evening at 230.

The Bucks are just 4-5-2 ATS as chalk when visiting. Milwaukee’s offense deteriorates significantly and is the NBA’s worst while on the road (105.3). That’s why 69.6 percent of their road games (6-17) go under the total (236 in this game).

Still, the freefalling Pistons have lost nine straight when hosting Milwaukee and are just 8-14-1 ATS at home hence their unflattering NBA Monday matchup odds.

Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, is favored ever so slightly (-1). They take on Sacramento Kings, which is one of the NBA’s hottest offenses.

The Kings have the highest offensive rating (121.7) as hosts but are also just 28th in defensive rating (116.4). As a result, 16 of their 25 home games have gone over the total. It’s the highest (245.5) for the evening.

Minnesota Timberwolves is also favored to beat Houston Rockets at 5.5 points. The Rockets have the second-worst record (6-15) at home but this team actually plays better defense.

But take that with a grain of salt as Houston is still just 20th in defensive rating (112.8). It has lost 13 straight games and failed to cover for nine straight. The Timberwolves are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games versus Houston.

Utah and Portland Ready to Dominate at Home

While Boston and Milwaukee are expected to blow out their hosts, the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers are lined to do the same as the home teams. Both are eight-point favorites as they host Charlotte and San Antonio, two of the NBA’s four worst teams.

The Charlotte Hornets are 13-10-3 ATS as a visitor. The totals went over on 18 of their 26 road games. Utah is just 5-10 ATS as a home favorite. But this team has won 15 straight home games as an NBA pick against Charlotte.

The Portland Trail Blazers has struggled recently. This team is just 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games partly due to a tough NBA schedule. But even at home, the Trailblazers are just 1-4 ATS in their last five versus San Antonio Spurs.

But the Spurs are also shorthanded and are without Devin Vassell (knee). They have the worst road defense (121.3), which is also why 12 of their 18 road games have gone over the total (240.5).

Atlanta-Chicago is Must-Watch

The best game of the night could be the rematch between the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls. The latter is favored by a point as they host the Hawks.

Their last four games were decided by six points or fewer and their previous two this season both went down to the wire. Both games took place in Atlanta with each team splitting with one win apiece. This is their rubber match.

Chicago Bulls are 5-1 ATS in its last six games versus Atlanta. The Hawks have been getting into high-scoring games lately.

Four of their last five games have gone over while 15 of their 24 games have as well. The total here is at 239.5, which is hefty considering three of their last four meetings have been on the lower-scoring side.
