NBA Weekend Games Results: Scoring Explosion Across the League

Road Teams Deliver ATS

Western Conference Play-in Race Heats Up

The Western Conference playoff picture continues to change by the day after another wild weekend of action. Let’s take a look at the NBA Weekend Games Results and see how things went down around the league.

The LA Lakers recorded a much needed win as they secured a 113-105 home win over the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers closed as 5.0-point underdogs and despite being without LeBron James or D’Angleo Russell were able to overcome an in-form Warriors team that welcomed back Steph Curry.

The Lakers now sit equal with the Jazz for the #10 seed in the West, with Utah suffering a 129-119 loss at Oklahoma City.

The Thunder, who covered the spread as 6.5-point home favorites, are just 0.5 games back in the #12 seed as they too make a push for a play-in spot now that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is back in the rotation for them. OKC remains the league-best ATS team this season, moving to 37-24-3 (60.7%).

The other team still to playing their part in the run home are the Portland Trail Blazers who also picked up a big win as they emerged with a 122-119 win at the Orlando Magic.

The Blazers closed as 2.5-point underdogs as they snapped a three-game losing streak to also sit just 0.5 games back from the final play-in spot in the West. Despite their strong performances at home this season, the Magic are a league-worst 2-6 (25%) ATS as home favorites this season.

The Dallas Mavericks dropped into the play-in spots as they suffered a 130-126 loss at home to the surging Phoenix Suns.

The Mavs continue to struggle defensively since unveiling their backourt duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, with the two superstars again putting up big offensive numbers only for the team to come undone down the stretch on defense.

Knicks Surging, Bucks Stay Top in East

The New York Knicks made it nine straight wins as they came away with a shock 131-129 win over the Boston Celtics in 2OT at the TD Garden.

The Knicks, who were without the services of star guard Jalen Brunson as NBA injuries continue to wreak havoc, closed as 6.5-point underdogs and never looked in doubt when it came to covering the spread once more. The win leaves them just 1.0 games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for the #4 seed in the NBA standings 2023 in the East.

The Milwaukee Bucks had their league-best 16 game win streak snapped at home to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night. The Bucks closed as 4.5-point favorites but couldn’t hold on down the stretch as the Sixers used a 48-point fourth quarter to steal a big road win.

The Bucks responded quickly though, winning a Sunday night showdown in Washington against the Wizards to ensure they held onto the top seed in the East. Milwaukee were 117-111 winners in a game where the market moved from -4.5 points to -6.0 points for the road team, making early bettors successful while late bettors could only manage a push.

Overs Bettors Enjoy Blissful Weekend

It was a point scoring explosion on the whole across the league as the weekend games went 12-4 (75%) to the Overs.

The Sunday slate went 8-2 (80%) to the Overs, with the only ones to stay Under the total being the Lakers vs Warriors and Brooklyn Nets vs Charlotte Hornets. Both those games were extremely shy of their respective totals, with the Lakers finishing 16 points below the closing total while the Nets game stayed Under by a whopping 41 points.

Totals continue to perform at a razor sharp number on the season, with the full game Overs leading 484-474 (50.5%).

Road teams also performed strongly against-the-spread (ATS) as they went 10-6 (62.5%). So far this season away teams are hitting at just 47.3% ATS.

That’s all for our NBA Weekend Games Results. Be sure to check back tomorrow for another market recap as the NBA season moves towards its penultimate month.
