Victor Wembanyama Rookie Props: Here’s to a Historic Season Ahead

Finding the Best Victor Wembanyama Rookie Props

The Start of a New Era in San Antonio

Victor Wembanyama is officially a San Antonio Spur and preparations can begin for his upcoming rookie season. Let’s dive into some season-long Victor Wembanyama Rookie Props and see if we can lock in some long-term value for bettors.

There are three season-long markets currently available for Wembanyama; his average points per game, his average rebounds per game, and his average blocks per game.

The French sensation is likely to lead all rookies in all of these NBA player stats, but what will those numbers look like based on his role in San Antonio?

The season-average points total for Wembanyama is set at 18.5 points, with the Over sitting at -110 odds while the Under is at -130.

Wembanyama will certainly become the primary focal point of San Antonio’s offense, but as with any player playing under coach Gregg Popovic everything revolves around moving the basketball and making the right plays at all times.

That said, the last time Popovic coached a number one pick was when the team drafted Tim Duncan and he averaged 21.1 points on 54% shooting from the field in an era where the game was slower and featured far more interior defense than the modern game.

If Wembanyama averages close to 38 minutes per game it’s hard to see how he doesn’t average around 20 points per game given the opportunities that will come his way on a nightly basis as well as the mismatches he will provide against most defenses.

He averaged 21.6 points per game in France last season and was the leading scorer in the Pro A league.

Can Wembanyama Implement His Size in the NBA?

The biggest question mark around Wembanyama is whether the 19-year-old can stand out to the physicality in the NBA.

His average blocks per game market are set at 2.5, with the ‘Over’ paying -105 and the Under sitting at -135 odds.

Last season, rookie Walker Kessler finished the 2022/23 season averaging 2.3 blocks per game for the Utah Jazz despite playing just 23.0 minutes a night. Wembanyama averaged 3.1 blocks per game for Metropolitans 92 and led the Pro A in that category.

Don’t be surprised to see NBA teams and players challenge Wembanyama at the rim in the early months as they try to gauge how he handles the physicality. If that’s the case, don’t be surprised to see him record a high volume of blocks per game.

His wingspan is simply frightening and his ability as a help defender might be one of the most underrated qualities in his skillset.

The rebound category is interesting and another category that he led in the Pro A last season with Metropolitans 92 where he averaged 10.4 boards per game.

Simply looking at NBA scores will show you how the extra minutes and possessions transpire to higher stats across all categories, but the rebounding numbers for a starting Center that has great positioning on the offensive glass project are very high.

Deandre Ayton was the last starting Center to be drafted #1 overall and in his rookie season, he averaged 10.3 rebounds per game. Prior to that was Karl-Anthony Towns who averaged 10.5 rebounds per game in Minnesota.

Victor Wembanyama Rookie Props Best Bet

It’s almost impossible to bet against Wembanyama in any way and on a team where he will be the focus in every way it’s hard to make a case against betting on the Overs in all his markets.

Last season’s #1 pick, Paolo Banchero, averaged 20.0 points in his rookie season. In 2020, Anthony Edwards averaged 19.9 points per game as a rookie in Minnesota despite not being the number one option on the team.

The last time a top pick garnered this much attention was when Zion Williamson took the floor for the New Orleans Pelicans. He averaged 22.5 points per game despite playing just 28 minutes a night in his rookie season.

Cade Cunningham is the only rookie in recent seasons to stay Under the 18.5 point average (17.4) but that was largely down to injury and averaging just 32 minutes per game.

The Over 18.5 points average is easily the best season-long bet in the Victor Wembanyama Rookie Props.

The Over on his average rebounds (8.5) and average blocks (2.5) are the other top looks here, but if you only want to lock up your money on one market then the points market offers the best value.
