CFB: Hawaii Rainbows at (15) Oregon Ducks Odds Preview

The Rainbows are 2-1 ATS while the Ducks have won and covered their first two games

The Hawaii Rainbows (1-2) are coming off a home win (31-20) and cover (-7.5) against the Albany Great Danes. They take a massive step up in competition with a trip to Eugene, Oregon, to face the 15th-ranked Ducks. Oregon (2-0) is coming off an 8-point (38-30) win at Texas Tech as a -4.5 favorite. This week’s College Football odds show Oregon as a 38-point favorite with a total of 68.5. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm PT on the Pac-12 Network. We continue our Hawaii vs Oregon odds preview with a deeper look at both programs.

Rainbows Have One Week To Enjoy Win

This will be Hawaii’s yearly clash with a ranked opponent. Which hasn’t been an excellent situation for bettors over the years. The Rainbows are just 2-6 ATS against teams in the NCAA Football rankings (1-25). To be fair, Hawaii’s two wins have come in the last two seasons against Fresno State and Michigan.

Since 2005, Hawaii has been 14-13 ATS against ranked opponents, 6-6 ATS against teams in the top 15, and 3-2 since 2012. Watching Head Coach Timmy Chang conduct his weekly press conference was like a final rights speech, with his words saying things like they know they have their work cut out for them, but his body language was writing the forward to a book that we know the ending to. Chang already pointed out that Hawaii is battling injuries and will do its best.

If the Rainbows have any chance of covering, Quarterback Brayden Schager will have to sling the ball around like he did against Vanderbilt when he completed 27 of 35 for 351 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Schager has been picked off five times in three games. For the second straight game, Hawaii was penalized for over 100 yards, that’s just the third time in the last 25 years that the Rainbows have managed that feat. We switch our Hawaii vs Oregon odds focus to the Ducks.

Bo Nix To Continue Early Success

This isn’t one of the better NCAAF games on the schedule, but that doesn’t mean it lacks reasons to watch. Oregon Quarterback Bo Nix has completed almost 76% of his passes with five interceptions against just one pick. Nix has the fourth-best Heisman Trophy odds at +1000 after Caleb Williams (+400), Jordan Travis (+800), and Quinn Ewers (+900).

In the two years prior to Nix transferring from Auburn, the Ducks were 8-10 ATS, but since the Heisman hopeful arrival, Oregon has covered nine of 13 games. As a favorite, the Ducks are on a 9-3 ATS run, 5-1 in Eugene. The Ducks lead the all-time series against Hawaii 4-3 SU, but all three of those losses have come in their last three meetings. We conclude our Hawaii vs Oregon odds preview with our official selection.

Expect The Scoreboard To Light Up

With the line at 38.5, we don’t have much interest in getting involved on that side of things, but the total is extremely attractive. At 68.5, the number looks a little daunting but believe me when we tell you that there will not be much defense in this one. Hawaii gave up 20 points to Albany last week, can you imagine the field day Nix is going to have?

Rainbows are ranked 14th in College Football with an average of 324 yards per game through the air, which gives us confidence that Hawaii will put up enough points to push this over. This number has moved from 68 to 68.5 with 57% of the money on the over, get on this game right now because it does appear another bump up is possible. That does it for our Hawaii vs Oregon odds preview, we wish you the best with your wagers this weekend.
