Colorado Buffaloes Future Odds

Buffaloes finished 2-10 ATS in 2022; Sanders Hopes to Establish New Culture

The Colorado Buffaloes finished the 2022 season 1-8 SU and 1-11 SU in the Pac-12. It was the first time in 11 seasons that Colorado managed just one win. Head Coach Deion Sanders is heading into his first season in Boulder along with offensive coordinator Sean Lewis (KC Kent State) and defensive coordinator Charles Kelly (ADS Alabama).

The Buffaloes have not been in a bowl game since 2020 (Alamo) during a 4-2 Covid season. 2016 was the last time Colorado played in a bowl game after playing a full season. Over the last three seasons, the Buffaloes are 12-17 ATS (-574 units), and 26-38-1 ATS (-1337 units) since 2017.

Sanders Has An Uphill Climb In Boulder

There is incredible excitement in Boulder, Colorado, but according to the Colorado Buffaloes’ future odds, success will come long after Colorado leaves for the Big 12. On a side note, it’s the one move among all the team movements in College Football that we agree with.

We’re big on tradition and from 1948 until 2010 the Buffaloes competed in a form of the Big 12 conference. Currently, Colorado is +15000 to win the national championship and receiving plenty of support from bettors after starting out at +40000 at some books. The public is betting on Sanders after leading Jackson State to a 23-3 record in 2021 and 2022.

The Tigers lost to North Carolina Central (41-34, OT) in the Celebration Bowl, but it was good enough for Colorado to come knocking on the door of the former Dallas Cowboys and 2-time Super Bowl champion. Although Sanders’ team will be led by his son Sheduer (Jackson State) behind center adding intrigue to the upcoming season, it will likely be up to the large number of incoming NCAAF players that will decide how many steps forward Colorado takes.

WR/DB Travis Hunter, also followed Sanders from Jackson State in addition to RB Alton McCaskill IV (Houston) and DL Derrick McLendon II (Florida State). This may be a situation where Colorado improves but that doesn’t equate to more wins. To move forward, the offense needs to go from one of the worst in the country to somewhere around respectable.

This is an area that will improve but going from a small like Jackson State to playing games against TCU and USC is a major leap. This season will be an improvement, but until we see an offense that can put up 30 a game, the Buffaloes will struggle. Let’s continue our Colorado Buffaloes future odds preview with a look at a few other betting options.

National Championship Odds: Not Going to Happen

We try to be as optimistic as we can about NCAAF teams winning or even competing for a National Championship, but having a discussion about the Buffs and a title will need a time machine to either go back to 1990 when they shared a championship with Georgia Tech, yes we remember the fifth down against Missouri, or fast forward many years from now.

Scanning through the Buffaloes’ NCAAF schedule, it’s apparent why they’re not projected to win much in 2023. Buffalo opponents are a combined 88-67 (.568), good for the nation’s 29th most difficult schedule. That’s really all that needs to be said.

Conference Odds: At +10000, It’s a Fight for The Bottom Of Pac-12

Last season, Colorado finished buried in the Pac-12 under Head Coach Karl Dorrell, who was let go after two seasons and five games at Colorado. Nowhere to go but up but Colorado is expected to still hover around the basement with Arizona State and Stanford, but we don’t think a last-place finish is in their future.

Colorado will play Arizona State and Stanford in back-to-back weeks, games that should give them some separation from the bottom of the conference. We continue our Colorado Buffaloes future odds preview with a look at a more realistic future wager.

Regular Season Wins: Oddsmakers Don’t Share Fan Excitement

This is among our best College Football bets to start the season. After nailing the under 3.5 on last year’s projected team total, we’re confident that’s the play again in 2023. The send-out number is 3.5 (-135 under). We don’t mean to douse the enthusiasm but will everything Sanders has to overcome in his first season, we don’t see where four wins in coming from.

Everything from himself being a first-year D1 coach and being able to handle failure to a new offensive and defensive coordinator, to having his son as the quarterback and all the different dynamics that brings. In addition to all of that, they play one of the toughest schedules in the country starting with TCU. Excuse us if we are going to smash the under 3.5 wins as one of our top wagers to begin the season. That does it for our Colorado Buffaloes future odds preview, we wish you the best in 2023.
