Giants vs Eagles Betting Odds: With Playoff Drought Over, Giants Look for Huge Upset

NFC East Rivals Ready to Renew Acquintances With Spot in NFC Title Game At Stake

All Eyes Will Be on Quarterbacks in Giants-Eagles Playoff Showdown

The New York Giants won their first playoff game since stunning the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl following the 2011 NFL season. Still, the Giants vs Eagles Betting Odds favors Philadelphia.

This will be the sixth straight postseason NFL game when the Giants are listed as the underdog. They have covered in four of the previous five.

The first-round bye could be huge for the Philadelphia Eagles as key offensive players should be healthier and Philadelphia will have another week to prepare for playing without All-Pro offensive tackle Lane Johnson if he isn’t cleared to play.

The New York Giants ranked 26th in passing yards per game during the regular season. However, head coach Brian Daboll took the training wheels off and let quarterback Daniel Jones go and win the game rather than just asking him to be a game manager.

The Giants were fifth in the NFL in points per game in the fourth quarter, so keep that in mind if the game is tight down the stretch.

New York ranked near the bottom of the NFL in rushing defense and that unit will be tested by the Eagles’ running game which had the fifth-most rushing yards during the regular season.

New York Giants Team Analysis

The Giants were able to control the ball in the win over Minnesota Vikings as they had the ball for seven more minutes than the Vikings. The running of quarterback Daniel Jones played a huge role in that as he extended multiple drives with his legs. Based on the Giants vs Eagles betting odds, that might be harder to accomplish this weekend.

Jones had a touchdown run in the lone regular-season game he played in against the Eagles this season so Philadelphia should be more prepared to handle the designed running plays than Minnesota was.

Saquon Barkley carried the ball just nine times, although two of those attempts resulted in touchdowns. Look for him to be much busier in this one as the Giants will look to control the clock once again.

Adoree Jackson locked up on Minnesota’s star receiver Justin Jefferson for much of the game and held up very well. The Eagles have more top receiving options with A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith both surpassing 1,000 receiving yards so it will be interesting to see how the Giants match up with the outside receivers. The defense did struggle to cover tight end T.J. Hockenson and the Eagles have an elite tight end in Dallas Goedert.

Philadelphia Eagles Team Analysis

Keep an eye on offensive lineman Lane Johnson and defensive end Josh Sweat, two of the the Eagles’ most physical players heading into the game as both are dealing with injuries. Their status could play a factor in the Giants vs Eagles betting odds.

Both quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Miles Sanders were slowed by NFL injury late in the season. While neither figure to be 100%, the extra week to recover could be crucial.

The Eagles led the NFL in sacks during the season and a huge part of the success was the pressure from interior linemen as Javon Hargrave had 11 sacks, Fletcher Cox and Milton Williams combined for 11 more and rookie Jordan Davis was unblockable early in the season before injuries slowed him down.

The Eagles did not finish the regular season in impressive fashion. Still, when looking at the NFL standings, they had the best record in the NFC for a reason.

The Eagles will look to establish control early on because things could be interesting if they allow the underdog Giants to hang around and believe they have a chance to win.

Giants vs Eagles Head to Head

The Giants have won each of the last three meetings, including sweeping the season series for the first time since 2019. It is hard to read too much into what transpired in the last matchup as the Giants were resting some key players. However, the Eagles went on the road and led by 34 points before a late touchdown by the Giants made it a 48-22 final.

The Eagles have won nine straight home games against the Giants with the last time the Eagles won in Philadelphia coming in 2013.

The teams haven’t met in the postseason since 2009 when the Eagles pulled off the 23-11 win as a four-point road underdog. It was the second time in three seasons that the Eagles eliminated the Giants from the NFL playoffs.

Four of the last six games between the teams finished under the total.

Injury Update

All the Giants players who were questionable going into the Minnesota game were good to go so there shouldn’t be too much drama injury-wise heading into this NFL matchup.

For Philadelphia, offensive tackle Lane Johnson (abdominal) and defensive end Josh Sweat (head) are questionable.

Giants vs Eagles Betting Preview

If the first week of the playoffs proved anything in terms of the NFL playoff picture, it showed that matchups between division rivals tend to be closer than anticipated.

The Giants will have plenty of confidence after going on the road and eliminating Minnesota. This will be a much tougher challenge. The Giants have dealt with injuries on the offensive line during the season and how the line holds up against the ferocious Philadelphia front seven will be a key piece of this matchup.

The Giants did cover against the spread in eight of the nine road games this season and are 14-4 ATS this season, one of the best marks in the league. That was aided by the Giants covering in each of the last five games.

The line opened with the Eagles favored by seven points and it is now at 7.5.

The early money has been pretty evenly split between the favored Eagles and the underdog Giants.
