The Titans vs Jaguars betting odds on the total opened 38.5 and the number is holding steady so far. The Titans are just 5-11 in totals this season, while Jacksonville is 8-8.

Tennessee can move the ball on the ground and they might look to run the ball against the Jaguars, who are allowing 4.2 yards per rush. Jacksonville has allowed 100 rushing yards or more in four of its last five games, including 137 to the Titans on Dec. 11. Dobbs did throw for 232 yards last week against Dallas, although that was more a reflection of how the game played out. Tennessee would like to run the ball as much as possible. To his credit, Dobbs did attempt to get the ball to the wideouts.

He didn’t play it safe and throw to running backs and tight ends. Still, it’s asking a lot of a guy who has 56 career completions to lead a team to victory on the road.

Defensively, the Titans are much better against the run than the pass. Tennessee allows 3.4 yards per carry to teams which averaged 4.4 yards per rush. Even though they’ve lost five straight, the Titans haven’t allowed 90 yards in any of those games.

Tennessee’s pass defense is another story, as the team allows 279.3 passing yards per game to teams averaging 228.2 yards. The Titans are allowing 7.0 yards per pass attempt and 65.6% completions.

Trevor Lawrence has made strides this year and the Jaguars appear to be content to live or die with their young quarterback. He’ll need a big game here due to the Titans’ rushing defense. Lawrence still struggles with turnovers but he’s also capable of making big plays at any time.

The Jags are rushing for 4.8 yards per carry but that’s against foes allowing 4.6 yards per attempt. They’ll face one of the best run defenses in the league, so look for Jacksonville to throw often. Jacksonville is averaging 234.8 yards per game through the air and 5.9 yards per play against teams allowing 5.6 yards, so the Jags are a decent offensive team.

The Jaguars are average defensively, allowing 20.9 points to teams scoring 21.1 points per game. The Jags allow a few more passing yards than their opponents average and are a little better against the run.

That should set them up nicely for this game, as Tennessee’s passing game is still suspect. Linebacker Travon Walker has been bothered by an ankle sprain. Check the Week 18 NFL injury report to see any updates, as he is a key part of the defense.

Can Dobbs Get it Done?

All eyes are going to be on Dobbs in this game. There’s a lot of pressure on the journeyman quarterback and not a lot of confidence, as the Titans vs Jaguars betting odds indicate. This is the just the second time since 2018 the Jags have been favored by a touchdown. The first was earlier this season and Jacksonville lost outright to Houston in that one.

“Titans vs Jaguars betting odds at Jacksonville -7, the Titans plus the points offers the best betting value in this game.”

The two defenses are posting similar numbers but the teams are heading opposite directions. The Titans appeared to have a playoff spot locked up a little over a month ago, while the Jags looked to be having another disappointing season. But things can quickly change in the NFL on the basis of a winning or losing streak.

It’s hard to trust the Jaguars as such a large favorite. The Jags could easily win this one but fail to cover the spread.

Whether they’ll admit it or not, there’s a bit of pressure on both teams in this one and we could see a close contest. With the Titans vs Jaguars betting odds at Jacksonville -7, the Titans plus the points offers the best betting value in this game.
