The Florida Panthers stave off elimination, winning Game Five of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series against the Boston Bruins by a final score of 4-3. Forward Matthew Tkachuk scored six minutes into overtime, giving him his first ever overtime goal in a Stanley Cup Playoff contest.

It’s his third goal and seventh point of the series, he also added an assist earlier in regulation on a goal scored by Sam Reinhart that gave the Panthers a brief 3-2 lead midway into the third period.

Veteran Patrice Bergeron returned to the lineup for the Bruins after missing the first four games with an injury, scoring a big power-play goal in the third period.

Forward Brad Marchand also had a goal and an assist, while defenseman Charlie McAvoy chipped in a pair of assists in the losing effort. The Bruins will now look to close out this series in Sunrise on Friday night.

The Seattle Kraken are now just one win away from their first playoff series victory in franchise history and from eliminating the defending Stanley Cup Champions in the Colorado Avalanche after picking up a pivotal 3-2 victory in Game Five on Wednesday night in Denver.

Winger Tye Kartye made his National Hockey League debut in a big way, scoring the eventual game-winning goal in the middle of the second period. The 21-year old Kingston, Ontario native scored 57 points in the American Hockey League, which led the league amongst rookies.

The Avalanche missed defensemen Cale Makar and Devon Toews, who both were out for this contest, Makar serving a one-game suspension for an illegal hit while Toews is out with injury.

Goalie Phillip Grubauer made 26 saves on 28 shots faced for the win and now the Kraken will look to make franchise history back at Climate Pledge Arena on Friday night as they try to close out an Avs club that had won thirteen straight road games before losing Game Four in overtime on Monday night.
