NHL Western Conference – Jets vs Kings Betting Odds Preview

Winnipeg, Winner Four of Last Five; Kings Seek Consistency at Home

The Winnipeg Jets (16-9-2, 34 points) head to Los Angeles to take on the Kings (16-5-4, 36 points) in an early season battle of two of the better teams in the Western Conference. The Jets’ goal differential (+14) is the best in the Central Division, but just the fourth in the West.

One team that has a better mark is the Kings at +32. Los Angeles is second in the entire NHL behind the Vancouver Canucks who are tops with a +37. Jets vs Kings betting odds show the Kings as a -180 favorite with a total of 6 (over -120). The puck drops at 10:37 p.m. ET / 7:37 p.m. PT and can be seen on TSN3 and Bally Sports West.

Winnipeg Are Coming Off Crash Landing

We suppose it is time to start taking the San Jose Sharks a little more seriously than we have for most of the season after taking a 2-1 decision from the Winnipeg Jets. The Sharks are on a 6-2-1 run to take some of the stings out of an early season slump but for Winnipeg a loss to the Sharks, a team they should handle, could have Rick Bowness’ team quietly thinking to themselves ‘what happened’.

They can’t spend too much time dwelling on the loss, but it has to put up some flags for bettors, especially with Jets leading scorer Kyle Connor out after sustaining a lower-body injury Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks. Connor is being sent back to Winnipeg to be evaluated. After two straight losing seasons against the books, the Jets are in a position to break that streak with 1.91 units won in 2023.

According to NHL betting odds, Winnipeg is 1-2 when a winning ticket pays between +155 and +165, but last season they won all three games, good for 4.30 units of profit (3-0). We continue our Jets vs Kings betting odds preview by turning our attention to Los Angeles.

Kings Come Home For One

The Los Angeles Kings return home after an East Coast trip that saw the road winning streak come to an end, but it wasn’t until their last game against the New York Rangers that they failed to get a point with former Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick doing the satisfying honors with a 25 save effort.

This matchup provides an interesting dynamic with the Kings being much better on the road (11-1-1) than they are at home (5-4-3). Does Los Angeles feel like it’s just another road game with it being the first game back and the last before heading up the coast and back for two more road games? Of the top teams in the Pacific Division, the Kings have the fewest home wins.

Despite the sub-.500 record at home the Los Angeles Kings roster is built for the postseason with four lines that can score and a number one guy in net, Cam Talbot, who is off to a blazing start (12-4-2, 1.91 GA, .931). We conclude our Jets vs Kings Betting Odds preview with our official selection.

Lean On Defense When Changing Momentum

It’s not a secret that the Los Angeles Kings want to be better on home ice and when teams want to change something about their game it’s usually the defense that starts the shift. A quick look at the NHL rankings shows that the Kings are number one in goal-against with a 2.32 average.

So when we talk about shifts in the way teams play, it doesn’t always mean a team is not playing well in a particular area. In the Kings’ case, they’re going to lean on their strong defensive game to start their transition game which leads to offensive opportunities.

To be clear LA hasn’t had any problem on either end of the ice this year overall, but you can tell they’re a small step behind where they want to be at home. We think that defense-first mentality, which started because they couldn’t trust their goaltending, will lead to a win with an under bet tonight, making that our official selection. That does it for our Jets vs Kings Betting Odds preview, we wish you nothing but the best with your Wednesday wagers.
