Dortmund Unbeaten in Last Seven

Two of the Bundesliga’s best teams will face off in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday as Borussia Dortmund host Hoffenheim. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim ended Stuttgart’s six-game winning streak on Saturday. In one of only four DFB-Pokal second round matchups between two Bundesliga teams, we’ll take a look at the Dortmund vs Hoffenheim odds.

BVB Borussia Dortmund vs Hoffenheim TSG

Location: Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany
Date & Time: Wednesday, November 1st, 1:00 p.m. ET

Head-to-Head:

Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim met in late September in a Bundesliga match and the soccer betting lines priced Dortmund as +105 road favorites. Despite going down to ten men, Dortmund came away with a 3-1 road win. Niclas Fullkrug opened up the scoring for Dortmund, while Andrej Kramaric equalized for Hoffenheim. Marco Reus and Julian Ryerson added two more goals for the visitors. Dortmund have won the last five meetings between the two sides and are unbeaten in the last seven.

Substitutes Shine for Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund fell behind 2-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday as Omar Marmoush scored a double for the hosts. Dortmund managed to get a goal back just before halftime on a Marcel Sabitzer finish. Youssoufa Moukoko came on as a substitute at halftime and equalized the score less than 10 minutes into his cameo. Frankfurt took the lead once again but two substitutes combined for another Dortmund equalizer in the 82nd minute.

Karim Adeyemi sent in a cross for Julian Brandt, who scored his fourth Bundesliga goal of the campaign. With a 6-3-0 record, Dortmund are in fourth place in the Bundesliga table. Brandt has been superb for Dortmund this season, as he’s managed a goal contribution in each of his last eight Bundesliga games. He also scored in the 6-1 win at Schott Mainz in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Sebastien Haller also managed to score a brace in that match.

Dortmund currently show the second-best odds to win the DFB Pokal. Bayern Munich are +125 favorites but Dortmund come in at +450. Midfielder Emre Can missed the match vs. Frankfurt on Sunday and is doubtful for Wednesday’s match. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel went off injured with a nose injury as well and was replaced by Alexander Meyer. Kobel’s status is worth monitoring for Wednesday’s game.

Hoffenheim Perfect on the Road

On Saturday, Hoffenheim were undoubtedly relieved to not have to go up against Serhou Guirassy, the Bundesliga’s leading scorer. The Stuttgart man missed the match with an injury and visiting Hoffenheim managed a 3-2 win. Hoffenheim ended Stuttgart’s six-game winning streak and remained in sixth place in the league.

Grischa Promel scored within five minutes for Hoffenheim and Wout Weghorst doubled the lead as he converted a penalty. It was Weghorst’s first goal for his new club. Stuttgart dominated possession and outshot Hoffenheim 23-7 but ended up falling 3-2. Robert Skov also got on the scoresheet for Hoffenheim. Now, the Dortmund vs Hoffenheim odds price the visitors as underdogs for Wednesday’s match.

However, Hoffenheim have won all six of their road matches this season, in all competitions. Hoffenheim do have a number of injuries heading into this second round DFB-Pokal match. Forward Andrej Kramaric has missed the last few matches and is only expected to return to training this coming week. Florian Grillitsch, Pavel Kaderabek and Ozan Kabak are all expected to miss Wednesday’s match.

Match Analysis & Odds

Notably, Hoffenheim have only kept one clean sheet this soccer season. They have scored in all 10 of their matches, though, which includes seven in their last three. Based on form and recent head-to-head matchups, Dortmund will feel they can get the upper hand here. The Dortmund vs Hoffenheim odds price BVB as -165 ATS and moneyline favorites. Hoffenheim, who haven’t beaten Dortmund for over three years, are +360 underdogs.

Bettors can also take Hoffenheim +0.5 at +135. Both teams have scored in nine of Hoffenheim’s ten matches this season and it should be a popular bet come Wednesday. However, at -245 odds, BTTS might not provide too much value. While both teams’ matches finished with five or more goals at the weekend, under 3.5 goals display -125 odds here.

A draw is currently priced at +350 but Dortmund have won the last five meetings in normal time. Even though Borussia Dortmund came away with a 3-1 victory a few weeks ago when these two teams met, Hoffenheim did create a good number of chances.
