Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

F1 rumors have swirled suggesting that Renault might be looking to offload the team due to their poor performance, but Team Principal Bruno Famin has firmly stated that Alpine is not for sale.

Not for Sale

In a conversation with F1.com Famin came out to clear up all the rumors and shed some light on Alpine’s situation. “We have the full support of the top management. The team is not for sale. We will keep pushing to reach our goals.”

Famin emphasized and added “It’s not a fun period, We are not where we want to be in terms of performance, we are not doing the project to be P15 or P16. We want to be ahead, we want to develop the performance of the car – and we want to fight for podiums and victories as soon as possible.”

The team’s struggles on the track have been compounded by significant internal changes. Key figures like CEO Laurent Rossi and Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer departed during the tumultuous 2023 season, followed by exits from Chief Technical Officer Pat Fry and Sporting Director Alan Permane.

The recent departures of Technical Director Matt Harman and Head of Aerodynamics Dirk de Beer further disrupted the team’s operations, impacting their performance on the track.

A Long Term Vision

Looking beyond the struggles of 2024, Alpine is already setting its sights on the future. Despite the challenges, Famin remains optimistic about the team’s prospects in Formula 1. He emphasized that Alpine has a real project in place to develop the brand globally through motorsport, particularly in Formula 1.

“In the history our team, previously branded Renault – at the start of the project in the 1970s, everyone was laughing at us – and we were strong in those moments.”

“We want to use those difficult moments now. We know everyone has ups and downs. We are in a down – but we will use the opportunity to be stronger very soon and for sure make the necessary changes within the team to reach our goals.”

Although we cannot expect to see a big change in the Chinese GP, since during the interview Famin made it clear that his vision is long-term and that the team’s focus is on 2026.

“We want to be back on the first part of the grid for sure, to improve significantly our position,” Famin said. “We know the major change in regulations is an opportunity to change the game. We want to seize that opportunity. That’s the goal.

“We want to make a significant step and find consistency, not to be one year fifth, one year seventh, one year sixth. Let’s get much closer to the biggest teams.”
