LeBron James Becomes First NBA Player to Reach 39,000 Career Points

Being Able to Accomplish This as a 38-Year-Old Is Absolutely Insane

LeBron Is Unstoppable

LeBron James has reached another seemingly impossible feat! During Tuesday’s game against the Utah Jazz, he became the first player in history to score 39,000 points in NBA games .

This is massive NBA news as we might never see another player reach these same heights. LeBron is just building on his legacy and had a chance to talk about his most recent milestone.

“I got congratulated by my teammates and coaches, (but) I haven’t had an opportunity to really wrap my head around what that means,” LeBron said. “There’s been so many great players that came across this league since the beginning of time, and so many great scorers. To be able to accomplish something that’s the first of anything, I think that’s always pretty cool. It’s a wild moment, that’s for sure.”

Even the most ardent LeBron James hater has to respect what this man is doing. He’s turning 39 in a month and still playing at an All-NBA level! These LeBron James stats are just insane. There are just seven players in NBA history to score more than 30,000 points and the only one close to 39,000 is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Teammates Marvel at LeBron’s Enduring Greatness

LeBron’s teammates on the Lakers are just in awe of what he’s doing.

“He’s incredible, man,” Lakers big man Christian Wood said. “I can’t really even put into words. Me getting here and [seeing] him wake up in the mornings, the way he carries himself on the court, off the court, how he takes care of his body, his preparation before every game.

“It’s incredible to do what he does at 38, still. Score, rebound, assists. He should be in the MVP race. He’s 38 years old. What person do you know that’s 38 and doing what he does? Today, 39,000 points. It’s incredible.”

What’s really wild is that this likely isn’t the last scoring feat that LeBron hits. 40,000 is well within his sites. He has scored over 1,500 points in every NBA season but one so he could even get to 40,000 this season. That would be pretty wild but he should be able to do it if he stays healthy.

We might never see another player his 40,000 points so even if you hate LeBron, you should try to enjoy the fact that you’re watching history. Not everybody is going to be able to tell their kids they got to see LeBron play in his prime.
