Daniel Ricciardo Withdraws from Dutch Grand Prix Due to Hand Injury
The Daniel Ricciardo Hand Injury Was No Small Incident

Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has been forced to withdraw from the Dutch Grand Prix after sustaining a hand injury during a practice crash. The incident occurred during Free Practice 2 ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of The Netherlands at Circuit Park Zandvoort on August 25, 2023.
Ricciardo, an Australian driver associated with Scuderia Alpha Tauri, suffered a left hand injury during the crash, which unfolded as Ricciardo’s car slid into a wall after Oscar Piastri spun and hit the wall in the banked Turn 3 at the Zandvoort road course. Following the crash, Ricciardo was observed holding his injured hand close to his chest.
Broken Bone Means Lawson’s Stepping In
It has been determined that Ricciardo has broken a metacarpal bone in his hand as a result of the crash. Unfortunately, this means that he will not be able to participate in the Dutch Grand Prix, an event that was highly anticipated by both fans and the racing community.
Stepping in for Ricciardo will be Liam Lawson. This marks a significant moment for Lawson as he gears up for his first Formula 1 Grand Prix appearance. Notably, he will be responsible for practicing and qualifying the car on Saturday before taking on the race on Sunday. Red Bull’s Helmut Marko confirmed the news.
As the Formula 1 racing world is left to wonder about Ricciardo’s potential return and Lawson’s debut performance, with the Dutch Grand Prix now taking on a different dimension, all eyes will be on the track and the unfolding drama with Lawson taking his place behind the wheel.
