Keylor Navas New Deal: Conflictive Upcoming Ligue 1 Season

Navas, the On-Loan Saving Grace for Nottingham Forest

Keylor Navas, the goalkeeping marvel, made a star appearance on loan in the Premier League and proved his worth by securing Nottingham Forest’s place in England’s top football competition. His loan transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) couldn’t have come at a better time for the Forest.

Nottingham Loan Backstory

The Costa Rican star was sent on loan by PSG after coach Christopher Galtier showed a clear preference for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Thus, Nottingham Forest managed to secure Navas on loan from PSG until the end of the season. The 36-year-old goalkeeper, who has helped PSG to two league titles and five domestic trophies, is a force to reckon with. His earlier stint with Real Madrid saw him win La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, and four Club World Cup titles.

Navas’ performance in the middle of the EPL season was met with great excitement, and he did not disappoint.

Now on vacation, Navas is expected to rejoin his team PSG for their pre-season, with their first friendly match against Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, slated for July 25th.

Navas’s Bold Request vs Luis Enrique’s Decision

Now, news just broke that Navas, according to L’Equipe, has made a bold request to PSG’s newly appointed Spanish coach, Luis Enrique: Navas has expressed his desire to reclaim his position as PSG’s main goalkeeper for the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season, aiming to shine brighter than Donnarumma. The Costa Rican goalie is ready to take center stage in this Keylor Navas new deal conundrum.

However, rumors are swirling that Navas is among the 12 ligue 1 players Luis Enrique is considering to sideline for the upcoming season.

Transfer market talks suggest that a Keylor Navas new deal might be in the making, and that Navas might be heading to Inter de Milan. But with his recent request, it’s clear that the keeper’s eyes are set on the starting position at PSG. Navas seems unperturbed and is set to attend the preseason, where he’ll settle his future.

Since joining PSG in 2019, Navas has been a consistent performer. Even though his position as the starting goalie was challenged by the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021, Navas has never been one to back down.

Nottingham Forest’s New Arrivals

Navas is just one of the 29 new signings Nottingham Forest has made this Premier League season. As they look to bolster their ranks, the team has also roped in midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle United and defender Felipe from Atletico Madrid. After a slow start, the Forest seems to be finding its footing, standing four points clear of the relegation zone.
