Brewers’ Mejia Suspended for Illegal Substance
Second Strike Gets Him a 162-Game Ban

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher J.C. Mejia has been slapped with a whopping 162-game suspension after flunking his second drug test for an illegal performance booster. This means he’s out of the MLB schedule for a looong time!
Major League Baseball disclosed that Mejia tested positive for Stanozolol. This marks the second time using the same banned substance that got Mejia suspended in the first place.
Past Offenses
Last season, the pitcher received an 80-game suspension for the identical offense. Despite this, the Brewers took a chance on Mejia, re-signing him to a minor-league contract during the off-season in a desperate measure to up their MLB odds.
Career in Jeopardy
Unfortunately, with Mejia suspended, his career seems to be hanging in the balance. Prior to his suspension, he had notched up nine appearances for the Brewers, boasting 13 strikeouts and a 5.56 ERA over 11 â…“ innings from the bullpen for the MLB team stats. Furthermore, an ongoing shoulder injury had placed him on the Brewers’ 60-day MLB injuries list.
Brewers’ General Manager Matt Arnold echoed the team’s unwavering support for MLB’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. He emphasized their shared commitment to eradicate performance-enhancing substances from the sport.
