Overview of the Kennesaw State Standings
Last-Season Standings
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great season for the Owls. They finished the year with an overall record of 5 wins and 26 losses, which left them in last place in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a conference record of just 1 win and 15 losses. As you can see, the Kennesaw State Owls standings were not favorable last season.
Despite their struggles, there were a few bright spots for the team. They managed to pick up a road win against Jacksonville and a home victory over Lipscomb. However, overall, it was a disappointing season for the Owls and their fans.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the Kennesaw State Owls will be looking to turn things around and improve their standings in the conference. With hard work and determination, they will look to put themselves in a better position to compete and succeed on the basketball court.

Kennesaw State Owls Basketball History
Kennesaw State began its basketball program in the 1985-86 season under coach Phil Zenoni. The Owls were an NAIA team and played in the Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Kennesaw State dropped its first nine games before picking up its first victory over Shorter.
By the program’s fourth year, the Owls were pretty solid, stringing together six consecutive winning seasons and an appearance in the NAIA Division I Tournament in 1993. The Owls made the move to NCAA Division II in the 1994-95 season as members of the Peach Belt Conference. Former BYU coach Tony Engle became the program’s third coach in 2000-01 and led the Owls to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2003.
Cruising Through the Peach Belt Season
Everything came together for Kennesaw State in 2004, as the Owls cruised through the Peach Belt season with a 16-0 conference record and rolled to the national championship. Kennesaw State shared the Peach Belt regular season conference title in 2004 but was knocked out of the tournament with an overtime loss to Columbus State.
The Owls made the move to Division I for the 2005-06 season and it’s been tough sledding for Kennesaw State. The team hasn’t posted a winning record as a Division I school, with a 14-18 record in 2016-17 the team’s best season. The Owls are especially bad on the road, going three straight NCAA seasons (2018-19 to 2020-21) without an away victory.
