Bayer Leverkusen vs Bremen Odds

Win Would Seal Leverkusen’s First Bundesliga Title

Stage Set for Potentially Historic Night

It would be incredibly hard to write a better script for Bayer Leverkusen’s match vs Werder Bremen on Sunday. Leverkusen have the opportunity to win their first-ever Bundesliga title in front of their home fans with a victory. Plus, they’d also match Juventus’ top-five European league record of 43 games without a loss, in all competitions. Leverkusen are also coming off a 2-0 midweek victory over West Ham in the first leg of the Europa League Quarter-Final. As we could witness history on Sunday, we’ll preview the Leverkusen vs Bremen odds.

Leverkusen vs Bremen Head-to-Head

This is the second chance to bet on the Leverkusen vs Bremen odds this season. Both of Bayer Leverkusen’s talented wingbacks, Alex Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong, got on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture. Leverkusen defeated Werder Bremen 3-0 in Bremen. Leverkusen are unbeaten in the last seven meetings between the two sides on the German Bundesliga schedule but four of those have finished in draws. Bremen last won at the BayArena in 2019.

Bayer Leverkusen Can Do the Previously Unthinkable

On Thursday, Bayer Leverkusen outshot West Ham 33-1 and the hosts also kept 73 percent possession. However, it took quite some time for Leverkusen to get on the scoresheet. Leverkusen’s first goal came 83 minutes in, when a scramble in the box led the ball to be cleared to Jonas Hofmann, who made no mistake with his left footed effort. Bayer Leverkusen doubled their lead when substitute Victor Boniface headed in Hofmann’s corner kick.

Leverkusen have one foot in the Semifinal and their dream of a completely unbeaten season is still alive. The Bundesliga leaders also defeated Union Berlin 1-0 on the road last Saturday, as Florian Wirtz scored a penalty. A bunch of Leverkusen’s players have been among the best Bundesliga players this season. Wirtz, Alex Grimaldo, Jeremie Frimpong, Granit Xhaka, Jonathan Tah and Jonas Hofmann have all been superb.

It’s also a huge plus that Leverkusen have Boniface back from a long term injury. He has scored 10 goals and provided seven Bundesliga assists in just 17 appearances. Adam Hlozek is the player on the injury list right now but he’s only played sparingly when healthy this season. The team that was called the “Nearly Men” a few decades ago when they managed four second-place finishes from 1997 to 2002 could become first-time champions on Sunday and it’ll be must watch TV.

Werder Bremen End Losing Streak

With six games to go, Werder Bremen are eight points clear of the relegation play-off spot and nine points clear of the automatic relegation places. Last weekend, Werder Bremen took a surprise second half lead at Eintracht Frankfurt as Jens Stage’s shot was saved by Kevin Trapp and Milos Veljkovic pounced on the rebound. However, after a VAR review, Stage was sent off with a straight red card just 11 minutes later.

Frankfurt managed to equalize, through Tuta, who also got sent off just before the end of the 90 minutes. The 1-1 draw was a decent result for Werder, who ended a four game losing streak. Werder Bremen will be missing Stage this weekend as he serves a suspension. Defenders Anthony Jung and Marco Friedl are also suspended for Sunday’s match. All three suspended players are among the seven Werder Bremen players who have logged the most minutes this season.

The Bundesliga stats show Marvin Ducksch is Werder Bremen’s leading scorer this season, with nine league goals. However, he’s dealing with a calf injury which likely won’t keep him out of Sunday’s match but could hamper him. Defender Niklas Stark and Justin Njinmah, who has scored six goals this season, are expected to miss out here. Regardless, Werder Bremen are 0-1-4 in their last five matches and have conceded two goals in four of those five.

Leverkusen vs Bremen Match Analysis & Odds

Bayer Leverkusen have typically played with aplomb this season but the sheer importance of Sunday could bring some nerves. They have the opportunity to end Bayern Munich’s 11 year Bundesliga title streak five games early and are massive favorites to pull it off. Currently, the Bayer Leverkusen vs Bremen odds list the hosts as two goal favorites. Leverkusen -2 comes in at even odds and Xabi Alonso’s side are -505 moneyline favorites.

Recall three Werder Bremen players are out due to suspension. Plus, Werder’s leading scorer may potentially miss out due to injury. The outlook looks a bit bleak for the visitors and they are +1245 underdogs for this one. Still, Werder Bremen +2 comes in at -120 odds.

A draw (+630) would at least keep Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten streak intact and they’d still very much be on course for the title. Leverkusen have kept three straight clean sheets but over 3, 3.5 goals come in at -115 odds here.
