Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund vs Wolfsburg Odds

European Contenders Face Off

Early-Season Test for Dortmund

Two of the best teams in the Bundesliga will face off on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund host Wolfsburg at the Signal Iduna Park. Borussia Dortmund pulled off a comeback in their last Bundesliga match to defeat SC Freiburg 4-2. However, they fell 2-0 to PSG on Tuesday in their Champions League opener. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg won 2-1 over Union Berlin as Jonas Wind got on the scoresheet once again. Let’s take a look at the Borussia Dortmund vs Wolfsburg odds for this early-season Bundesliga clash.

BVB Borussia Dortmund vs Wolfsburg WOB

Date & Time:
Location: Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany

Head-to-Head:

Dortmund have typically gotten the better of Wolfsburg in this fixture. In the last meeting, back in May, Dortmund picked up a 6-0 win as Jude Bellingham and Karim Adeyemi scored braces. Wolfsburg won the reverse fixture at home, 2-0. Still, Dortmund has won nine of the last 10 head-to-head matches on the Bundesliga schedule. During that time, BVB has averaged 2.7 goals per game.

Dortmund Fall in Paris

Borussia Dortmund may be unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season but they haven’t managed to put together more than one win in a row yet. Following last Saturday’s 4-2 win over SC Freiburg, they’ll be hoping to change that when Wolfsburg comes to town. Dortmund had just about as difficult of a Champions League opener as anyone could imagine. They had to head to Paris on Tuesday to take on PSG and weren’t exactly up for the task.

PSG had plenty of chances to extend their lead but the Parisians came away with a 2-0 win over Dortmund. BVB’s Marcel Sabitzer also left with an injury in the first half of the match and his status should be monitored for Saturday. In Dortmund’s 4-2 comeback win over SC Freiburg last weekend, defender Mats Hummels managed to score twice.

Donyell Malen also got on the scoresheet and he’s been the most dangerous Dortmund player this season. The Dutch international has scored three goals this season and Dortmund have averaged two goals per game in the Bundesliga so far. They’ve also conceded in each of their last three league games and have looked shaky at times in the back. With two wins and two draws, Borussia Dortmund are currently in fourth place in the German Bundesliga standings.

Strong Start to Season for Wolfsburg

To open up the 2023-24 Bundesliga season, Wolfsburg have won three of their first four matches. Die Wolfe picked up a win over Union Berlin, a Champions League side, last weekend. Jonas Wind got on the scoresheet for the fifth time this season and Joakim Maehle scored the second goal in the 2-1 victory.

Wind, a Danish international, has already scored two braces this season. He scored both of Wolfsburg’s goals in the season-opening 2-0 win over Heidenheim and the 2-1 win over Koln. Wind is in second place in the Bundesliga stats, with five goals, and fellow forward Tiago Tomas scored his first Bundesliga goal last weekend.

Wolfsburg’s only loss this season came on Bundesliga Matchday 3 when they fell 3-1 at Hoffenheim. Heading into the weekend, they’re in sixth place in the Bundesliga, on goal difference. Saturday’s Dortmund vs Wolfsburg odds price the visitors as +350 underdogs.

Match Analysis & Odds

In each of the last two seasons, Borussia Dortmund managed to score six goals at home vbs. Wolfsburg. Bettors expecting another blowout can take Dortmund -0.5, -1 at -120 odds. However, these teams are much closer on paper than recent results would imply. It is a blow for Wolfsburg that defender Maxence Lacroix is out for the match with an injury. Wolfsburg forward Lukas Nmecha is also out for Saturday. As a result, Wolfsburg +0.5, +1 displays even odds.

The Dortmund vs Wolfsburg odds price hosts BVB as -150 moneyline favorites as they attempt to stay unbeaten. Wolfsburg haven’t beaten Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park since 2012 and are +350 underdogs here. Dortmund have won each of their last five home games vs. Wolfsburg and just two of the last ten have ended in a draw.

For Saturday’s match, a deadlock is priced at +340 odds. Goals are certainly expected here as over 3, 3.5 goals come in at -115 odds. So far this season, Wolfsburg’s matches have averaged three goals per game and Dortmund’s have averaged 3.25.
