WWE: 2023 Fastlane Preview

Seth ‘Freaking’ Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura clash for the World Heavyweight Title

World Wrestling Entertainment’s presentation of Fastlane will be the company’s seventh but first since 2021. The production will return to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the first time since Clash of Champions in 2016, when Owens beat Seth Rollins to retain the Universal Championship. This event comes months after the WWE Night of Champions 2023 in Saudi Arabia.

This is a historic night, for better or worse, because it will be the first PPV event that will not be under the control of Vince McMahon or his family after selling the company to Endeavor for an estimated 9.3 billion dollars. The event will be live-streamed on Peackcock Saturday, October 7th at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT. Let’s dive into WWE Fastlane 2023 with our official predictions.

Seth ‘Freaking’ Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

The World Heavy Weight Championship is on the line when Rollins and Nakamura battle again in the main event, this time in a Last Man Standing match. The WWE has been lost on what to do with Nakamura since his arrival on the main roster in 2023. Rollins is a -300 favorite to retain his title, and we think that’s the right play as the WWE uses Rollins to try to light a fire under the Nakamura character.

The only way we can see Nakamura taking the title is if Rollins’ back injury is real, according to the WWE rumor mill, and enough to keep him out of action for some time. WWE’s Fastlane 2023 continues with the Undisputed Tag Team Championship preview.

Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso vs. The Judgement Day

Speaking of -300 favorites, The Judgement Day (Finn Balor and Damain Priest) is a massive favorite to take down Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Who knows what the current philosophy will be with their champions under Endeavor, but the WWE has settled in with their champions keeping the belt for some time. They are the second faction to win titles over three brands, with the Bloodline being the other.

After winning the championship from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, it seems like a title run to end now doesn’t exactly fit in with what the WWE is about now. The Judgement Day will keep the titles in this one, especially if WWE news can be trusted, saying that officials are waiting to cook up a Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes feud. Putting the tag team title on Rhodes wouldn’t make sense.

Tag Team Match: John Cena & LA Knight vs. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa

The biggest favorite on the betting board can be found in this match, where Cena and Knight are -1000 to win. This provides an interesting betting angle because Cena has mostly been used as a guy to get others over, while Cena uses the WWE to kill time until the writers’ strike ends, which it has, signaling the end to Mr.Hustle, loyalty, and respect latest run.

The WWE would not want to slow the roll that Knight is on, but this is a terrific opportunity to prop the Bloodline up even more than they have for what seems like a decade. Getting +550 is an option that makes sense, and they can do it with Knight looking clean after. We conclude our WWE Fastlane 2023 betting preview with the Women’s Championship.

Women’s Championship Triple Threat: Iyo Sky vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair.

Iyo Sky is a -300 favorite over Asuka (+400) and Charlotte Flair (+400). Sky has been the champion since cashing in her Money In The Bank briefcase at Summerslam over Bianca Beliar after a triple-threat match with Flair and Asuka. It’s been a nice run for Sky but she isn’t someone the company will build around. Expect her reign to come to an end with Flair winning her 18th title within the WWE, NXT titles (2 times) included.

One final note on WWE’s Fastlane 2023 pay-per-view, with any new takeover, there is a reasonable amount of expectation that there could be some turnover, meaning, we could see some upsets to shake things up some, so don’t be surprised when at least two dogs cash plus money tickets. All the best with your Fastlane wagers.
