EPL Matchday 30 Odds & Preview: League Contenders Level on Points

Arsenal Head on Road to Liverpool

Champions League Contenders Level on Points

With a routine 4-1 win over Leeds United, Arsenal kept their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners also managed to win seven straight Premier League matches for the first time under Mikel Arteta. Now, Arsenal face a potentially tricky test at Anfield vs. Liverpool. While Arsenal and Manchester City battle it out for the title, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Tottenham are all level on 50 points. As they fight for the final two Champions League places, all of them have tricky matches this weekend. We’ll take a look at a few of them as we preview the EPL Matchday 30 odds.

Games of the Week

BRE Brentford vs Newcastle NEW

Date, time:

With a 2-0 win over Manchester United, that was never in doubt, Newcastle United re-entered the top four. The Magpies have now won three consecutive EPL matches and Eddie Howe has done an excellent job to get them challenging for a Champions League berth. Next up on the schedule is a match at Brentford, which could prove to be quite a difficult one. The Bees have lost just one match at home this season and have lost just one of their 11 EPL matches in 2023.

For this Saturday’s match, the English Premier League betting odds list Newcastle United as 0.5-goal favorites. Newcastle’s Nick Pope has kept a league-leading 13 shutouts in 2022-23 and the Magpies defense has conceded just 19 times all season.

Newcastle currently come in at +130 ATS and +120 moneyline odds. Meanwhile, Brentford are -150 favorites to cover but +225 moneyline underdogs. Thomas Frank’s Brentford drew 3-3 in a wild match at Brighton last weekend and were minutes away from snatching a road victory.

The Bees are currently in ninth in the EPL table but are still fighting for a European place. Notably, both teams play on Wednesday before their Matchday 30 fixture. Newcastle head on the road to West Ham, while Manchester United host Brentford. Following the midweek matches, Brentford will look for their first-ever EPL win over Newcastle.

A draw wouldn’t be a bad result for the Bees and one displays +240 odds here. Newcastle smashed Brentford 5-1 in the reverse fixture, though. This one isn’t expected to be a goalfest as under 2.5 goals sit at -120 odds.

TOT Tottenham vs Brighton BHA

Date, time:

Tottenham’s first match under interim boss Cristian Stellini finished in a 1-1 draw at Everton. Michael Keane’s 90th minute equalizer saved a point for the Toffees as Tottenham’s Lucas Moura got sent off. He won’t be available for Saturday’s match vs. Brighton but features much more as a substitute anyway.

Tottenham are searching for their first win under Stellini after Antonio Conte left the club by mutual consent last week. Meanwhile, Brighton have been quite remarkable under Roberto de Zerbi and could throw themselves in the UCL race with a win here. They defeated Bournemouth 2-0 on Tuesday as teenager Evan Ferguson and Julio Enciso got on the scoresheet.

For this highly consequential match, the EPL Matchday 30 odds list both sides at the same odds to cover. In this pick’em Brighton and Tottenham come in at -110 ATS odds. Currently, their moneyline odds are also identical, as they both show +155 odds to win the match.

If Brighton win, they’ll be just one point behind Tottenham in the table. Notably, the road team has won the last three meetings. Earlier this season, Tottenham picked up a 1-0 win at the AMEX as a Harry Kane goal was the difference.

Kane also scored in the recent match vs. Everton and has bagged 21 goals this season. There are questions about his future but he’ll be a goal threat as long as he’s with Spurs.

Brighton have lost just once at home in 2023 but they could be missing key midfielder Moises Caicedo on Saturday. The Ecuador international picked up an injury in the match vs. Bournemouth and defender Tariq Lamptey is also a doubt.

Brighton’s offense has shined recently, regardless as they’ve averaged 2.4 goals in their last five matches. Over 2.5 goals show -120 odds for the match. None of the last 10 matches between these two teams have finished in a draw. Regardless, a draw also displays +260 odds.

SOU Southampton vs Manchester City MCI

Date, time:

No Erling Haaland, no problem for Manchester City. The Premier League’s leading scorer missed the match vs. Liverpool with a groin injury that also kept him out of international duty. Regardless, Man City put four goals on Liverpool as backup striker Julian Alvarez got on the scoresheet.

Whether Haaland suits up or not, City have the personnel to cause last-placed Southampton a ton of problems. The Saints are four points from safety but have some winnable fixtures coming up on their EPL schedule soon.

For now, Southampton will hope to pick up points as they host City on Saturday. Southampton pulled off a 2-0 upset over Man City in the EFL Cup quarterfinals but have won just one of the last 14 Premier League meetings.

Visitors Manchester City are 1.5-goal favorites at -130 odds to cover even with Haaland a doubt and Phil Foden out. Part of that is the fact that the Saints are winless in their last four matches and fell 1-0 to West Ham last Sunday. Plus, defenders Armel Bella-Kotchap and Mohammed Salisu could miss this match with injuries. Also, no EPL team has scored fewer goals than Southampton this season.

Southampton display long +975 odds to win and have the worst home record in the league, at 2-4-8. Meanwhile, Man City are -400 favorites and a draw sits at +500 odds here.

These teams did draw at St. Mary’s Stadium last season but City certainly had the better chances. The two-time defending Premier League champions have scored a league-leading 71 goals but under three goals are priced at -115 odds for this one.

LIV Liverpool vs Arsenal ARS

Date, time:

Liverpool’s decline has been one of the stories of the season but they did break a three-game losing streak by drawing with Chelsea on Tuesday. The match finished scoreless and followed a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal continue to impress and are in pole position to win the Premier League title. Arsenal are on a seven-game winning streak and have scored at least three goals in each of their last five EPL matches.

The Gunners haven’t won at Anfield for over 10 years but the EPL Matchday 30 odds list them as favorites. Arsenal’s moneyline odds are +155, while Liverpool’s are not far behind, at +160. Although, neither Virgil van Dijk nor Harvey Elliott were in LFC’s matchday squad vs. Chelsea.

Van Dijk’s absence was precautionary and he could certainly feature here, while Elliott’s wasn’t immediately explained. In any case, the oddsmakers list this match as a pick’em. Liverpool come in at even odds to cover, while Arsenal show -120 ATS odds.

The last time these two teams met, Arsenal broke a four-game EPL losing streak vs. Liverpool by winning 3-2. Still, if center back William Saliba can’t suit up on Sunday it’d be a massive blow for the Gunners.

He’s missed the last few matches and Rob Holding has filled in admirably but Liverpool’s pace would present a matchup nightmare for him. This is one of Arsenal’s most difficult remaining fixtures and a draw certainly wouldn’t be the end of the world for them. One displays +275 odds and goals could be on the cards, as over 2.5 sits at -130 odds.
