Head-to-Head

This is the first opportunity for Everton vs Man City bets this season. Last season’s soccer scores were a 1-1 draw at the Etihad and a 3-0 Man City win at Goodison Park. Erling Haaland scored in both of City’s matches vs. Everton last season. Currently, the Cityzens are on a 13-game unbeaten streak vs. Everton, in all competitions. The Toffees last defeated Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League in 2017.

Everton’s Streak Comes to End

Everton’s first match after the 10-point deduction was a 3-0 loss to Manchester United in November. Since then, Sean Dyche’s Toffees have turned things around and are outside of the relegation zone by four points. Everton are 4-1 in the Premier League in December and were on a four-game winning streak before the weekend. The Toffees kept clean sheets in all four of their EPL matches on their streak.

That included shutout victories over Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Chelsea and Burnley. In Saturday’s match at Tottenham Hotspur, Spurs took a 2-0 lead. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal was called back for a foul in the build up and midfielder Andre Gomes scored a consolation goal in his first Premier League appearance of the season. Gomes spent last season on loan at Lille, and his Everton career has been injury-filled. He could still be a part of Dyche’s plans going forward, especially after a good performance on Saturday.

Everton’s home record this season is quite underwhelming, at just 3-1-5 to this point. They also lost in penalties to Fulham in the EFL Cup Quarter-finals last week. Midfielder Dele Alli has reportedly made a return to training in a bid to reignite his career. Meanwhile, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, and Seamus Coleman are all questionable for Wednesday’s match. Doucoure has been a standout performer for Everton this season, as he leads the team with six goals.

Manchester City: World Champions

Manchester City are now World Champions after a 4-0 victory over Fluminense in last week’s FIFA Club World Cup final. The European champions dominated the Brazilian side as Julian Alvarez got on the scoresheet twice and Phil Foden proved to be a constant danger. The Cityzens were a great pick for soccer betting in the tournament, as they outscored their opponents 7-0 over two matches.

The Club World Cup forced their Premier League match vs. Brentford to be postponed. As things stand in the EPL, City are in fifth place with a game in hand on the teams ahead of them. Man City are six points behind leaders Arsenal and two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham. All of City’s Premier League losses this season have come when Rodri has been suspended.

Now, the Spanish midfielder is doubtful for Wednesday’s game after suffering a knee injury in the match vs. Fluminense. He’s not expected to miss much time, but Guardiola could be cautious here. Plus, leading scorers Haaland and Jeremy Doku also missed the Club World Cup and are considered questionable here. In a big boost for City’s title hopes, the injured Kevin de Bruyne is back in training and will make his return to action soon.

Match Analysis & Odds

This could prove to be a tricky road match for City, especially if Rodri and Haaland are unable to suit up. Before making Everton vs Man City bets, punters should monitor the injury status of the key City players. Also, Man City have drawn four of their last six Premier League matches and are just 1-4-1 during that time. Regardless, City are one-goal road favorites for this match at Goodison Park.

Bettors can take Manchester City to win at -170 odds, and Man City -1 comes in at -105 odds at the moment. Meanwhile, Everton +1 displays -115 odds as the Toffees look to get back in the win column. They’ve been a rejuvenated bunch following the point deduction, and they’re capable of causing problems for any team. While Everton don’t figure to have much of the ball, Dyche teams are typically compact defensively and don’t give away easy chances.

In fact, only three teams have conceded fewer goals than Everton in the EPL this season. One of those teams is Man City, who have conceded 1.18 goals per game this season. Everton come into this match as +460 underdogs and a draw is priced at +320 odds as well. Both over and under 2.5, 3 goals show -110 odds for this one, as both teams have solid defenses.
