Liverpool Lose Seven Goal Thriller

Liverpool took on Manchester United in the FA Cup Quarter-Final just before the March international break. It was a draining match for an already injured-stricken Liverpool side, and proceedings were level at two after 90 minutes. Harvey Elliott put Liverpool ahead in the 105th minute but United weren’t done yet. Marcus Rashford equalized in the second period of extra time and youngster Amad Diallo sent the Red Devils through to the Semifinal.

It was just Liverpool’s fifth loss of the season, in all competitions and it means they’re out of the running for the domestic treble. Still, they’ve already won the EFL Cup this season and can take home the Premier League and Europa League trophies as well. Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in their last five EPL fixtures and they show +200 odds to win the Premier League at the moment. They may need some injury luck, which they’ve had almost none of this season.

For Sunday’s match, goalkeeper Alisson, defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and forward Diogo Jota are all still out. Thiago’s campaign has been derailed by injury and Joel Matip is also out for the season. Meanwhile, Curtis Jones and Ibrahima Konate are listed as questionable and Darwin Nuñez as doubtful. Still, with players like Mo Salah and Alexis Mac Allister, who has a goal contribution in each of his last five games, Liverpool should be just fine.

Brighton Haven’t Won Two in a Row Since September

Brighton went into their Europa League Round of 16 second leg vs. Roma with a four goal deficit. The Seagulls weren’t able to overturn the deficit but they did manage to defeat Roma 1-0 at the AMEX. In their maiden European campaign, Brighton won their UEL group and turned some heads with their play. Still, European qualification is far from certain for next season.

The Seagulls are in eighth place in the Premier League standings, with an 11-9-8 record and haven’t strung together two EPL wins in a row since September. Like Liverpool, Brighton are also dealing with some injuries to key players and they’re not used to the packed fixture schedule they’ve had this season.

With only the Premier League to focus on now, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Seagulls finished the season off strongly. Still, the injuries to Kaoru Mitoma and Joao Pedro have hurt Brighton offensively. Jack Hinshelwood and James Milner are also dealing with injury issues and could miss this one. Notably, Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton are only 4-3-7 on the road this season in the Premier League.

Liverpool vs Brighton Analysis & Odds

Although Brighton has had Liverpool’s number over the last few seasons, this is a match that the hosts expect to win. There’s not much margin for error if Liverpool have any hope of winning the title. Thankfully for the Reds, leaders Arsenal do take on third-placed Manchester City on Sunday and this could be an opportunity for Liverpool to go back on top of the table.

Currently, Liverpool are -245 favorites but they have conceded 10 goals in their last four games vs. Brighton, in all competitions. The Liverpool vs Brighton odds also list the visitors as +600 underdogs and the Seagulls have avoided defeat in each of their last three trips to Anfield. A draw is priced at +450 and three of the last five EPL matchups have finished all square.

Both EPL teams will be without some key players here and under 3.5 goals sit at -115 odds as a result. Liverpool have certainly made do despite all of the absences, while Brighton’s roster isn’t as comparatively deep. Punters can also consider Liverpool -1.5 at even odds and Brighton +1.5 at -120 in a match between attack-minded sides.
