Canada vs USA: CONCACAF Nations League Finals Odds

First Final for Canada in 23 Years

Both Sides Picked Up Shutout Wins Thursday

Canada advanced to their first major final since 2000 when they defeated Panama 2-0 on Thursday. In the second CONCACAF Nations League semifinal, the USA destroyed Mexico 3-0 to set up a final between bordering nations. Canada have been the quickest-rising team in CONCACAF over the last few years, and bringing home a trophy would vindicate a golden generation of players. As Canada and the USA face off in Las Vegas on Sunday, we’ll take a look at the CONCACAF Nations League Finals odds.

CONCACAF Nations League Final

Canada vs USA

Date, time:
Location: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, USA

Head-to-Head:

The USA went unbeaten in this fixture from April 1985 until October 2019 and were previously an excellent pick for betting on soccer games. The last five meetings have been quite competitive, though. A resurgent Canada picked up two wins, including in the most recent match, in January 2022.

That day, Canada defeated the USA 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Hamilton, Ontario. In the last five head-to-head matchups, the USMNT also has two wins and a draw.

Canada’s Star Players Get on Scoresheet

  • Semifinal Result: 2-0 W vs. Panama
  • Key Absences: D Derek Cornelius

Canada’s CONCACAF Nations League semifinals opponent was Panama. Les Rogues found the net midway through the first half as Jonathan David nutmegged the Panama keeper.

David, who scored 24 goals for Lille in Ligue 1, received a brilliant through ball from defender Kamal Miller and confidently took his chance. A few minutes later, Canada keeper Milan Borjan kept out a rocket of a free kick, and Les Rogues went into the half up 1-0.

In the second half, Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies fired a hard shot into the roof of the net to double Canada’s lead. Canada, who played a measured game, held on for a 2-0 win to advance to their first final since the 2000 Gold Cup.

Canada have been excellent in CONCACAF matches under John Herdman. In the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Canada went unbeaten vs. both Mexico and the USA.

Still, the CONCACAF Nations League Finals odds price Les Rogues as underdogs for Sunday’s match. David and Davies are high-level players, and Canada’s supporting cast is full of solid players. Midfielder Stephen Eustaquio helped Porto win the Taça da Liga and Taça de Portugal this season. Cyle Larin and Tajon Buchanan also add attacking firepower for the Canadians.

USA Win Marred By Red Cards

  • Semifinal Result: 3-0 W vs. Mexico
  • Key Absences: D Sergino Dest (Suspended), M Weston McKennie (Suspended), M Tyler Adams (Injured)

In USA interim coach B.J. Callaghan’s first match, the USMNT dominated Mexico en route to a massive 3-0 win. USA’s passing combinations were crisp, and they effectively broke down the Mexican backline on multiple occasions.

Christian Pulisic missed a sitter in the first half as he sailed the ball over an open goal. However, he made up for it when he scored the game’s opening goal in the 37th minute.

Pulisic doubled the lead and his tally on the night when he scored not even a minute into the second half. Mexico could not generate any meaningful attacks and started to get frustrated. In the 69th minute, Cesar Montes got sent off for El Tri after a hard foul on USA debutant Folarin Balogun.

In the ensuing brawl, Weston McKennie also got sent off and will miss Sunday’s match for the USA. Sergino Dest also got a red card later on and will miss the match vs. Canada. When Ricardo Pepi came on, he added another insurance goal for the USA.

Before the match, news broke that Gregg Berhalter will return as the USA coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Under Berhalter, the USMNT finished first in the Group D CONCACAF Nations League standings with three wins and a draw.

Match Analysis and Odds

With two of the USA’s key players suspended, Sunday’s match suddenly becomes tougher for the USMNT. USA are playing on home soil, but the CONCACAF Nations League Finals odds imply they have a less than 50 percent chance of victory. The Stars and Stripes come in as +110 ATS and moneyline favorites and are winless in their last two matches vs. Canada.

Meanwhile, Canada +0.5 is priced at -140 odds as Les Rogues go for their first CONCACAF Nations League title. Note that the USA are defending champions and also won the 2021 Gold Cup.

Canada do show decent odds to pull off the upset here, at +250 and John Herdman has all of his key players available for this one.

Without Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie, the USA midfield could take a big hit here. Luca de la Torre was a bright spot when he came on as a substitute vs. Mexico and is one option to fill in. Borussia Monchengladbach’s Joe Scally could be the starter at right back with Sergino Dest out.

The 2021 CONCACAF Nations League final went into extra time, before Christian Pulisic scored the winning penalty. Another draw in the final displays +225 odds. Meanwhile, over two goals come in at -125 odds for what should be a high-octane final.
