A Good Day for It: Aussie Leads Byron Nelson Picks

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson Odds

Australia’s Jason Day headlines the CJ Cup Byron Nelson Championship this week, having won it last year.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson odds have Jordan Spieth favored to win at +1600, but it’s an even betting field at TPC Craig Ranch.

PGA Championship odds could move based on who wins, so it’s a big tournament to keep an eye on.

Repeat Win for Day

Jason Day doesn’t win often after battling injuries for most of his career. However, he is the defending Byron Nelson Championship winner.

Golf odds this week are giving him plenty of respect at +1800 on the second line of betting, and he’s good enough to score consecutive titles in this event.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The 36-year-old Australian has been playing well enough to consider his odds, including a T18 finish at the RBC Heritage two weeks ago.

That followed a tidy effort at The Masters, where he was also asked to take off a jumper by Augusta officials. It was a comical series of events, but whatever the situation, it showed how stuffy PGA Tour golf can be.

However, Day will be focused on producing his best golf and The CJ Cup Byron Nelson odds are worth snapping up.

Is Spieth a Value Bet?

There has been strong money for Spieth with the best golf betting sites, but is it warranted?

We’re happy to include Spieth in our selections based on his PGA Tour record, which consists of 13 wins and three major championships.

He hasn’t won a golf tournament since taking out the 2022 RBC Heritage, which followed a win at the 2021 Valero Texas Open. Prior to that win, it was four years since Spieth had won an event.

There’s no doubting he’s not the same golfer as he once was. His short game used to be excellent, and he has been struggling to play his best.

However, none of the world’s best players are at the Byron Nelson this week, choosing to wait and play the signature events. It’s a sign of the times, but players like Spieth could reap the rewards.

He won’t get a better chance to notch an overdue win, and his odds could firm throughout the week.

Sticking With Zalatoris

It’s hard not to root for Will Zalatoris, who has made a tremendous comeback from a back injury.

The 27-year-old has yet to win since returning from injury but his performances have been excellent, and his The CJ Cup Byron Nelson odds are worth taking.

He finished T2 at The Genesis earlier this year before playing excellent golf at The Masters. He posted a T9 performance behind Scottie Scheffler, which should give him plenty of confidence.

We’re happy to overlook his T44 effort at the RBC Heritage. He closed with a disappointing 74, which saw his position slip dramatically. However, he shot two rounds of 68 prior to that.

He’s a +2200 chance at the sportsbook, which is too good to pass up. His confidence levels should be high, and we’re confident he will win another PGA Tour tournament in 2024.

Luke List Makes the List

Given the odds of +7000, we have to include Luke List in our golf picks.

The 39-year-old from Seattle isn’t the golfer everyone jumps out of trees to bet on, but he could provide bettors with value odds.

He finished T38 at The Masters, and making the cut is a good enough form guide for the Byron Nelson Championship.

That followed some missed cuts in tough events, but the list is a two-time PGA Tour winner, scoring the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open and the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship.

With a win every year in the last two golf seasons, List is a capable golfer who could score an upset win this week.
