Stricker Firm with Kaulig Companies Championship Odds

The Senior PGA Tour Rolls On

The Kaulig Companies Championship is next on the agenda for the Senior PGA Tour players and it’s a red-hot field.

Tour leader Steve Stricker is the golf odds favorite at +250, which is extremely short for a golf tournament of any level.

Looking to add the Kaulig Companies Championship their list of golf tournaments are the likes of Stewart Cink, Steven Alker, and Jerry Kelly, who have been well-backed to win this week.

Sticking with Stricker

The 56-year-old finished second behind Bernhard Langer in the U.S. Senior Open, so he’s the form golfer of the field.

The American is one of the golf favorites for the tournament and it’s not hard to see why. He won the American Family Insurance Championship last month by five strokes, so he is in fine form.

Leading the Senior Tour, Stricker eyes another win, and he has played expertly with his wife on the bag.

“It’s her bag any time she wants it,” Stricker said. “She couldn’t make it today, but she’ll be here tomorrow and the rest of the week. Sometimes she has enough of it and sometimes she’s like, ‘Yeah, I want to go’ so it’s totally up to her.”

It’s not easy for bettors to take +250 for a senior golfer, but Stricker doesn’t know how to play poorly. He will be near the top of the leaderboard from the outset.

Alker Finding His Groove

Alker burst onto the senior scene last year after being a journeyman for many years. He won five tournaments in an 11-month period, which was a fast start to his post-50 career.

The New Zealand won his first 2023 tournament when taking out the Insperity Invitational in April. He defeated Stricker by four strokes, which shows how good he is when he’s on his game.

We expect Alker to get back to his best form after a few winless months. He finished T6 at the U.S. Senior Open last week, so there is no reason why he can’t parlay that form to a strong finish at the Kaulig Companies Championship, which is the Senior PLAYERS Championship.

Bookmakers have Alker at +850, which is an excellent price. He represents the best value in the tournament.

Don’t Leave Out Langer

Langer turned back the clock to win the U.S. Senior Open last week, and although he’ll need to come down from the high, he’s a chance to win again.

The German golfing superstar is a +2200 chance to win this week, which is an excellent price for someone who is full of confidence.

“I still enjoy the game,” Langer said. “If I play like I did this week, I’m going to keep playing.”

If Langer keeps playing like that, we’re going to continue backing him. We would have priced him around +1400, and given that he has 46 Champions Tour wins on his record, he should be feared.

He is already a two-time winner in 2023, with the other win coming at the Chubb Classic – his fifth Chubb Classic title.

He is also a three-time winner of this tournament, so leave Langer out at your peril.
