Date & Time:
Location: Estadio Mestalla, Valencia, Spain

Head-to-Head:

The last time these teams met, the Valencia vs Real Sociedad odds priced hosts Valencia as +165 favorites. Valencia ended up winning 1-0 and the previous four head-to-head matchups all finished in draws. Five of the last six meetings have finished with two or fewer goals. In one of the most draw-heavy fixtures out there, six of the last nine matches have ended in draws.

Resurgent Valencia in 2023-24

Ruben Baraja took over coaching duties at Valencia back in February but his tenure certainly didn’t get off to the best start. Valencia finished just two points ahead of the relegation zone this season and Barajas started off 2023-24 on the hot seat. Given the circumstances, Valencia has performed quite well to start the season. Los Murcielagos won their first two matches and are 3-1-2 so far, which has been good enough for sixth in the La Liga standings.

Over the weekend, Valencia drew 2-2 at Almeria. Diego Lopez showed excellent speed to break free on Valencia’s first goal. Almeria equalized in the second half on a rebound before Valencia’s Javi Guerra scored a goal to go along with his previous assist. Sergio Arribas equalized once again on another rebound as Valencia had to settle for a point.

Valencia’s resurgence this season has been powered by their young players. Hugo Duro and Guerra have both scored three goals this season and they’re 23 and 20, respectively. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is turning 23 on Friday and every regular member of the starting XI is under the age of 30. Currently, Valencia is dealing with a couple of injuries, as Sergi Canos and Gabriel Paulista are both out.

Kubo Shining for Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad played in a seven-goal thriller on Sunday as they came away with a 4-3 win over Getafe. Takefusa Kubo’s excellent season continued as the Japan international scored in the first two minutes of the match. Getafe came back to lead 2-1 at halftime. Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice in the second half, which was also his first two goals of the season.

Brais Mendez also got on the scoresheet for the first time in La Liga this season but he did score Real Sociedad’s goal in the 1-1 Champions League draw vs. Inter. Betting the over on Real Sociedad’s La Liga soccer lines over the last few matches has been a profitable venture. Each of their last three games has finished with three or more goals.

During that time, their matches have averaged six goals. With a 2-3-1 record, Real Sociedad is currently in eighth place in the La Liga table. While their offense has been impressive so far, Sociedad have also conceded in their last four matches, in all competitions. Sociedad has managed to keep just one clean sheet in seven matches, in all competitions.

Match Analysis & Odds

This is expected to be the closest La Liga Matchday 7 matchup. The Valencia vs Real Sociedad odds list this match as a pick’em. Valencia pk displays -115 odds, while Real Sociedad pk comes in at -105. Valencia has a 38.5 percent implied chance of victory, at +160 moneyline odds. After all, Valencia did defeat Real Sociedad at home last season.

Sociedad last won at Valencia in 2017 and this is one of their best chances in recent memory. The Txuri-Urdin are priced at +185 odds to come away with a win here. Four of the last five La Liga meetings have finished in draws and another one sits at +215 odds.

One of the better bets on the odds board may be over two goals at -125 odds. Sure, none of the last four head-to-head matchups have finished with more than two goals, but neither defense has been great so far. In fact, Sociedad have conceded eight goals in their last three La Liga games.
