Stadium on Tuesday following the Bianconeri’s 4-2 loss to Sassuolo over the weekend. In a massive test for the Salentini, we’ll look at the Juventus vs Lecce odds.

JUV Juventus vs Lecce LEC

Date & Time:
Location: Allianz Stadium, Turin, Italy

Head-to-Head:

Juventus completed a double over Lecce last season with a 1-0 win in Puglia and a 2-1 win in Turin. The only other meetings in the last decade were in the 2019-20 season when Juventus won 4-0 at the Allianz and drew 1-1 at Lecce. That season, Lecce finished in 18th place in the Serie A table and went back down to Serie B. Juve are unbeaten in the last six head-to-head matches and Lecce’s last win in this fixture was in 2011.

Calamitous Performance on Saturday From Juve

The way Juventus played at Sassuolo on Saturday was simply unacceptable. The hosts opened up the scoring as Juve keeper Wojciech Szczesny had a howler on Arnaud Lauriente’s shot. Perhaps the only bright spot of Juve’s match was Federico Chiesa. The winger sent in the cross that caused a Sassuolo own goal in the 21st minute. Domenico Berardi, who was heavily linked to the Bianconeri over the Summer, gave Sassuolo the lead once again heading into halftime.

In the second half, Dusan Vlahovic missed a golden opportunity for Juve, but Chiesa managed to grab an equalizer on a deflected shot. In the 82nd minute, Szczesny parried a shot into the middle of the box, which Sassuolo’s Andrea Pinamonti headed in. Sassuolo got a fourth goal before the final whistle on a ridiculous Federico Gatti own goal to win 4-2.

Saturday’s match was a comedy of errors for the Bianconeri, and Massimiliano Allegri will be hoping his players learn from their mistakes. A look at the Juventus standings in Serie A shows that the Bianconeri are in fourth place heading into Matchday 6. Chiesa and Vlahovic have scored four goals each so far and the loss to Sassuolo was Juve’s first of the season.

Right now Allegri only has a couple of players sidelined. Defenders Mattia De Sciglio and Alex Sandro are currently out injured and should be back sometime in October. It’ll be interesting to see how Juve bounces back and the Juventus vs Lecce odds price the hosts as -175 favorites, down from -190 at the time of opening.

Lecce the Surprises of the Season

Lecce’s best-ever Serie A finish was in the 1988-89 season when they came in ninth place. Over the last couple of decades, they’ve bounced around between Serie A and Serie B and they were Serie A’s 16th-place team last season. So, it comes as quite a shock that Lecce is in third place in the league through five matches. They’ve completely outperformed recent soccer lines, with a 5-0 record against the spread.

They picked up their latest win on Saturday. Substitute Remi Oudin scored the game’s only goal vs. Genoa on a deflected shot in the 83rd minute. With the win, Lecce and Inter Milan are now the only two unbeaten teams remaining in Serie. So far, the Puglian side have put together a 3-2-0 record in Serie A and are 1-2-0 on the road.

Roberto D’Aversa is unbeaten in his first six matches as Lecce coach, in all competitions. His timely subs have played a key role in Lecce picking up points over the last few weeks. They’ve already picked up a win at Lazio and a draw at Fiorentina. Montenegrin striker Nikola Krstovic has led the way, with three goals in four appearances.

Match Analysis & Odds

Both meetings between these teams last season were close but Juventus should be incredibly motivated following Saturday’s disaster. They’re expected to put the loss behind them and come away with a win here in front of their home fans. The Juventus vs Lecce odds price the Bianconeri as -175 moneyline favorites. Juve -1 also comes in at -105 odds and it should be noted that they’ve scored at least twice in each of their last three games.

The Bianconeri also lost just three home matches in Serie A last season. Still, Lecce will feel confident given the results they’ve picked up so far this season. Lecce to win sits at +510 odds at present, while Lecce +1 displays -115 odds for the match. Although Lecce is 5-0 ATS this season, the prospect of a Juventus blowout victory certainly isn’t out of the question.

Lecce would undoubtedly be content with preserving their unbeaten record and coming away with a draw. A deadlock is priced at +310 odds here as the oddsmakers price under two goals at -120. Notably, Lecce’s last three matches have all finished with two goals or fewer and they’ve only conceded four goals so far.
