Jose Aldo vs Sean O’Malley? Yes Please!
‘The King of Rio’ Delivered an Epic Comeback After Defeating Jonathan Martinez in UFC 301

The King of Rio vs The Suga Show 🤤
This past weekend’s UFC 301 event in Rio de Janeiro saw Jose Aldo’s long-awaited return. Despite previously retiring from the sport, he put on a hell of a performance in front of his home nation.
Aldo, at the age of 37, has spent the majority of his professional career as a 145lb competitor, boasting one of the longest title defenses in UFC history at this weight class.
However, his dominant bantamweight performance over Jonathan Martinez on Saturday has sparked a new belief in the Brazilian superstar that he could potentially challenge the bantamweight champion, a prospect that has surely piqued the interest of UFC fans worldwide.

During the post-fight press conference for the Martinez bout, which saw Aldo win a clear unanimous decision, the former featherweight king sparked UFC rumors with his “skip the line” comments.
“That’s what [my manager] says – I can skip the line, I can get in there because when we left, we were very well ranked,” Aldo said, per MMA Fighting.

A Reality of Unrealistic Expectation?
After getting defeated by Merab Dvalishvili two years ago, Aldo retired from the promotion. MMA news has covered his boxing ventures since, and while his return to home turf in Rio resulted in an impressive victory, should we believe it’s enough to jump the queue into title contention?
Well, Aldo does.
“Not that I saved the card, but being able to come here and do a great show. I hope this can [help], can’t it? If we skip the line, It would be great. I think that’s it. I’ll get some rest and go back to strong training, and new challenges will come.”
Aldo is referencing a title opportunity versus “Suga” Sean O’Malley. Still, an announcement involving Aldo vs. O’Malley might spark outrage within UFC news, considering Merab is the next in line, and he defeated the “King of Rio” two years back.
However, Aldo and O’Malley are two of the greatest strikers in UFC history, and their style of clashes is undoubtedly fan-friendly. I wouldn’t complain about it personally.
Jose Aldo said after #UFC301 that he likes the idea of skipping the line for a title fight against Sean O’Malley in the future 👀

Erceg Got It, So Why Not?
Considering Steve Erceg, a #10 ranked flyweight, skipped nine other fighters in the queue for a flyweight championship opportunity at UFC 301, it wouldn’t be crazy to see Aldo receive the same treatment.
I wouldn’t recommend the UFC matchmakers make a habit of gifting fighters outside of the top-five rankings championship bouts.
Still, if we’re to turn a blind eye to ranking position to one fighter, Aldo’s resume unquestionably qualifies.
Right now, it’s nothing but gossip, and while some critics may fume at the idea, they’d certainly come around to the thought of O’Malley and Aldo, with their emphatic striking offenses, going toe-to-toe in the octagon.
