ANT Over Durant, Game Two is Here

Suns vs Timberwolves Odds, Matchup and More

Suns vs Timberwolves odds are Minnesota -3, total set at 214. After a big win in game one the Suns are getting two more points as underdogs on the road.

Game one was ugly for the Suns. After winning each regular season matchup, the Suns were walloped by the Wolves 120-95 on Saturday. The Wolves busted open the game in the third quarter after a 19-4 run led by an Anthony Edwards offensive explosion.

The Timberwolves league-leading defense was also on display, where Rudy Gobert locked down the paint and Minnesota’s elite perimeter defenders held Devin Booker and Bradley Beal to 18 and 15 points respectively on a combined 11-of-26 shooting.

The Suns lack of size and depth were on display Saturday, a problem that won’t be fixed overnight. They were outrebounded 52-28 and outscored in the pain 52-34. Durant was the only bright spot for the Suns, he put in 31 points on an efficient 11-of-17 shooting.

ANT is Him

Anthony Edwards is having a coming-out party. Although he had some nice performances in the playoffs last NBA season, after a great regular season and his second all-star selection, ANT is ready to cement himself as an NBA superstar.

Edwards has scored 29 or more points in each of his last five playoff games, and it is obvious he feeds off the surprisingly raucous playoff atmosphere in Minnesota.

In game one, he seemed almost impossible to stop, scoring 33 points and adding nine rebounds and six assists to the stat sheet.

Edwards obliterated his points/rebounds/assists prop in game one, and although he finished the season only going over that prop in four of his last ten games, we like his chances of going over on Tuesday. The lowest points/rebounds/assists combined total that Edwards has posted in his last five playoff games is 44.

His line on Saturday was set at 36.5, and early odds for game two are around the same. He can easily cover this prop with just points and rebounds, and we don’t see Phoenix finding a way to lock him down on Tuesday.

Mike Conley, who only played 27 minutes in game one, is another Wolves player to look at. With Edwards taking more ball-handling responsibility, he was only able to put up four points in the easy victory.

We liked Conley to be an essential offensive piece in this series for Minnesota, but taking a look at his points under could have some value.

He has gotten ten or more rebounds/assists combined in his last three playoff NBA games however, so Conley believers might be more inclined to put their money there.

Booker in a Chokehold

Kevin Durant is going to need some help. The Timberwolves decided to guard him with a few different NBA players on Saturday, including Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, but nobody could stop the hall of famer.

Devin Booker, on the other hand, was completely stifled by his defender Jaden McDaniels. McDaniels (and the rest of the Minnesota defense) held Booker to only 18 points on 5-of-16 shooting.

Booker is unlikely to have this poor of a shooting night again on Tuesday, but if Minnesota doesn’t change up defensive assignments, Booker could have another low-scoring night.

Can Minnesota Keep the Pressure On?

Suns vs Timberwolves odds are Minnesota -3, total set at 214. This one will be difficult to predict. It is hard not to overreact to Minnesota’s emphatic win over the weekend, but the nature of the victory was quite convincing.

Before the series we were feeling that due to the Suns veteran playoff experience and 3-0 regular season record against the Wolves, the Suns would be able to grab one of the first two games in Minnesota.

Now, after Saturday’s dominant win, we are no longer as convinced.

The line of 214 is something worth looking at for those who feel as unsure about the game two result as us. In their last five matchups against each other these NBA teams have gone over this line of 214 in three of the five games.

That being said, this is the playoffs, and Minnesota is the league’s best defense, so an under is quite possible as well.
