The Boston Celtics Are a Lock to Win The Atlantic Division

Most Books Don't Even Have NBA Atlantic Division Odds Anymore!

The NBA Atlantic Division is ultimately a wrap.

The Boston Celtics currently lead the NBA with a 43-12 record. They’re looking for their first Championship, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way.

The squad is stacked with Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and so much other depth to go alongside those two All-Stars.

At home, the Celtics are 26-3, and they’ve gone 30-6 in conference play this season. The Celtics haven’t even lost ten games on the road yet this season.

Therefore, many sportsbooks don’t even have odds for the Atlantic Division. The Celtics are currently leading the New York Knicks by ten games and are ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers by 10.5 games.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors are more than 20 games out of the division.

While the Celtics finished the first half with a six-game winning streak, the rest of the division lost at least their final game heading into the break.

It’s the Celtics’ division. Let’s take an in-depth look at the NBA Atlantic Division odds from the beginning of the season.

NBA Atlantic Division (Before The Season)

TeamProjected Win TotalOdds To Win The Division
Boston Celtics54.5-280
Philadelphia 76ers49.5+380
New York Knicks44.5+700
Brooklyn Nets37.5+4000
Toronto Raptors36.5+4000

Because the Celtics are already ten games above every team in the division, the books won’t even put up NBA Atlantic Division odds. It’s a wash.

While there aren’t any divisional odds for the Celtics, the Celtics are currently the odds-on favorite to win the NBA Championship at +260.

The Celtics made a surprising move before the season began, shipping Marcus Smart to Memphis in a three-team deal that landed Kristaps Porzingis.

Boston also added Jrue Holiday to the mix and put together the best starting five in the NBA, which includes Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who was just paid the most money in NBA history in the off-season.

Boston is 13-1 in divisional play this season and has scored nearly 221 points per game. They’ve had a differential of 10.1 points per game this season, which is by far the best differential in the NBA.

Therefore, the Celtics are well on their way to winning the Atlantic this season. They’ll also more than likely hit their win total of 55 wins. They’ve already got 43 in 55 games.

The New York Knicks have been streaky. The Knicks had a moment when they won nine consecutive games but followed that nine-game winning streak with a four-game losing streak heading into the break.

The Knicks have dealt with numerous NBA injuries this season. Julius Randle is the most significant one. He’s dealing with a shoulder injury but is expected back soon. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson missed some time due to a lower leg injury, and the Knicks are currently without Mitchell Robinson, Isiah Hartenstein, OG Anunoby, and Donte DiVincenzo.

When the Knicks get healthy, they’ll be dangerous. The All-Star Break certainly came at a good time for the Knicks.

76ers logo Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers had the MVP of the league this NBA season. That was Joel Embiid, who eventually hurt his knee so severely that he needed surgery.

Embiid was ultimately forced to play in games because of the new 65-game rule for MVPs. Embiid pushed himself too much and came back when he wasn’t ready. Therefore, he got hurt badly and won’t be playing for the 76ers anytime soon.

Now Philadelphia is .5 games behind the Knicks in the Atlantic standings. Tyrese Maxey hasn’t been healthy all season, either. With that, Tobias Harris has had to put this team on his back in many games this year. Harris is a terrific NBA player but not someone you want to rely on to win games.

Philadelphia added Buddy Hield at the NBA Trade Deadline from the Indiana Pacers. In four games, he’s averaged 22.3 points for Philadelphia. Hield was a solid pickup who will likely play well with the healthy roster that includes Embiid.

The 76ers are still heavily in playoff contention. While they won’t win the Atlantic Division, they’ll be playing in the playoffs and could have Embiid back by then.

Nets logo Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are just two games away from being in the top ten of the East. If the Nets can make the top ten of the East, they’ll at least play in the Play-In Tournament with a chance at making the NBA Playoffs.

With that in mind, the Nets fired Jacque Vaughn after the All-Star Break and will go in a new direction at head coach. The Nets have legitimate talent on the roster, but it hasn’t developed into wins. We’ll see who will get the job next for the Nets.

Brooklyn won’t win the Atlantic and, with 21 wins, probably won’t go over its projected win total. But at least the Nets are making changes to get better.

Raptors logo Toronto Raptors

Like the Nets, the Raptors are still playing for a chance at the NBA Play-In Tournament. But they’re nearly 25 games out of first place in the Atlantic. They’ve got no chance of winning the division.

Toronto’s roster from the beginning of the season looks completely different now. They’ve traded away Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby and brought in R.J. Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Bruce Brown, and Kelly Olynyk.

The Raptors are worried about the future right now.

The NBA results weren’t what the Raptors wanted to see. However, the Raptors have an enticing starting five that includes Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, Gary Trent Jr, Barrett, and Quickley. Toronto can make a run at the NBA betting lines for making the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if the Raptors squeeze by the Nets and find a way.

Our NBA picks today include the Raptors at +1200 to participate in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament.

Those are NBA Atlantic Division odds we can agree on taking for the Raptors.
