ACC Basketball Conference Odds: Duke at NC State, Highlights Week
Big Slate of Games on Saturday
The ACC doesn’t have any of the marquee games on the schedule this week. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few good games worth watching – or wagering on. The best game from a fan’s perspective could very well be Duke at North Carolina State. The ACC basketball conference odds will have Duke favored but it’s not going to be an easy game.
Wednesday, Jan. 4
Duke Blue Devils vs N.C. State Wolfpack

The No. 16 Blue Devils (11-3) make the short trip to North Carolina State (11-4) on Wednesday to face the Wolfpack. The NCAAB odds showed Duke opened as 3.5-point favorites and are now favored by 4. The Blue Devils get the edge both offensively and defensively. Duke’s 3-point defense will be key to the game. The Blue Devils rank No. 19 in the country, allowing 27.8% from 3-point range. The Wolfpack score 34.2% of their points on 3-pointers. The Blue Devils get an edge in strength of schedule. NC State has done a decent job of not turning the ball over this season and it will have to continue here for them to keep this one close.
Clemson Tigers vs Virginia Tech Hokies

Clemson (11-3) visits Virginia Tech (11-3) in a decent game that saw Virginia Tech open 6.5 and the line drop slightly to Hokies -6. These teams are fairly even, with Virginia Tech getting slight edges in offense, defense and strength of schedule. The Tigers are going to shoot the 3-pointer, which they do well, but VT is pretty good at defending the long-range shot. Both teams are among the best at not turning the ball over, but Clemson struggles to get offensive rebounds, ranking No. 307 in the country. Big things were expected from Virginia Tech this season. The Hokies were tied for the fourth-lowest odds in the preseason ACC basketball conference odds. This is the type of game they need to win to justify those odds.
Miami Hurricanes vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

No. 12 Miami (13-1) visits Georgia Tech (7-6) in a game where Miami has a huge edge on offense. The ‘Canes are No. 12 in adjusted offensive efficiency. Georgia Tech is No. 162. The Yellow Jackets get a strength of schedule edge but that’s about it. Miami opened as 6-point favorites. Hunter Cattoor missed last game for Georgia Tech with a forearm issue. His status on the college basketball injury report is questionable. Miami was tied with Virginia Tech in the preseason ACC basketball conference odds and looks to be the right side here.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs North Carolina Tar Heels

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish make the trip to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina. The Tar Heels will be double-digit favorites here coming in off the loss to Pittsburgh. North Carolina was the preseason favorite in the ACC basketball conference odds and hasn’t lived up to the hype yet. Notre Dame doesn’t have its best team this year but the Irish can hit the 3-pointer. That’s how you can beat the Tar Heels, as it’s the team’s weak link defensively. Notre Dame scores 37.6% of its points on 3-pointers and NC ranks No. 201 in defending the 3. Notre Dame can stick around longer than expected if it gets hot from the outside and is worth a look getting 12 or more points.
Clemson Tigers vs Pittsburgh Panthers

A second straight tough game for the Tigers, who visit the Panthers in a game where Pittsburgh will be small favorites. Neither team has a decided edge offensively or defensively so this one will come down to execution. The Panthers have hurt themselves with turnovers this season, ranking No. 201 in the country by turning it over nearly once every five trips down the court. If the Panthers continue that trend here, they’ll lose the game. Clemson getting 3 or more could be enticing.
N.C. State Wolfpack vs Virginia Tech Hokies

Streaming: ACC Network
The Wolfpack and Hokies come right back with a tough matchup against one another. N.C. State could be showing a bit of the aftereffects of playing Duke, while the Hokies are fresh off a game with the Tigers. Virginia Tech gets small edges offensively and defensively and neither team gets much advantage in terms of schedule strength. If there’s a bit of an over-reaction to Wednesday’s results and the line comes out Virginia Tech -6.5 or higher, North Carolina State merits a good look in this spot.
