Flyers Looking to Soar

As impressive as the 22-5 record might be for Dayton, it could be even better.

The Flyers have been in every game except a 69-55 loss to a Houston team that is currently sitting atop both of the national polls.

The other four losses have come by an average of four points.

DaRon Holmes averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds in the five losses compared to 21 points and 8.2 rebounds in the 22 wins. He will be a popular pick when it comes to the NCAAB picks and parlays.

Second-leading scorer Nate Santos has shot under 50% in each of his last four games and has 28 points in the last three contests. With Santos spending the two previous seasons at Pittsburgh, this is his first time facing Loyola. Keep that in mind when it comes to the Dayton vs Loyola Chicago odds.

The total has gone over in five of Dayton’s last seven contests.

Ramblers Looking To Rebound

Loyola fell out of first place in the Atlantic 10 after falling to St. Bonaventure the last time out.

The starting lineup was a combined 10-for-42 from the field with 13 turnovers.

The Ramblers had won the previous seven NCAAB games before the winning streak ended with Loyola’s fourth road loss of the season.

Philip Alston had 12 points in the loss as he has scored in double figures in six consecutive games. That could be a factor in the Dayton vs Loyola Chicago odds.

Second-leading scorer Desmond Watson is averaging just 8.3 points on 38% shooting in his last three games and more will be needed if Loyola plans on making a run at the Atlantic 10 regular-season and NCAA tournament titles.

Loyola has covered against the college basketball spread in seven of its last eight games.

Last Meeting

Visiting Dayton never trailed on the way to the 65-48 win over Loyola as a seven-point road favorite according to the NCAAB odds.

Despite 20 points from DaRon Holmes, the game fell under the 131-point total after the teams combined for 186 points in the first meeting between the Flyers and the Ramblers.

Dayton vs Loyola Chicago Betting Preview

With Dayton and Loyola Chicago both a game behind Richmond in the Atlantic 10 standings, this feels like an elimination game in the race for the Atlantic 10 regular-season title.

Loyola is 13-2 at home with Dayton 5-4 on the road. All three of the Flyers’ road losses have come on the road.
Dayton is just 3-3 outright as the road favorite with Loyola winning its only other game this season as the home underdog.

Loyola has dropped both of its games to ranked NCAAB teams this season, losing to Florida Atlantic 75-62 in the season opener and falling to Creighton 88-65 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

Dayton is 19-3 this season as the favorite while Loyola has split its eight games as the underdog.

Dayton guard Malachi Smith, who averaged more than five assists in his first two seasons, is out for the season. He only played in one game this season.

The Flyers have covered in nine of their 14 home games this season while the Ramblers are 5-3-1 against the spread on the road.

Nine of Dayton’s home games have gone under the total. The total has gone under in 10 of Dayton’s last 14 games on the road. The total is set at 136.5 for this game, which is one of the lowest totals among the games being played on Friday.

One thing to consider is that Dayton is 16th nationally in offensive efficiency according to the Pomeroy college basketball ratings but just 349th in adjusted tempo.

Even though Dayton is a much better team at home than on the road, the best way to proceed could be to ride with the road favorites in this matchup.
