Jimerson Set For Another Homecoming

The last time that Saint Louis’ leading scorer Gibson Jimerson returned to his hometown of Richmond, Virginia to face VCU, he managed just six points on 2-of-10 shooting in a 12-point loss.

This will be his third trip to face VCU, and he is looking to leave on the winning NCAAB team for the first time. Keep that in mind when looking at the Saint Louis vs VCU odds.

Jimerson has scored in double figures 11 times in the last 12 games, including seven 20-point efforts.

The total has gone over in five of the last six games played by Saint Louis.

VCU Starting To Win the Close Ones

VCU began the season by losing five of the six games decided by six points or less, with a near upset of Iowa State and an overtime loss to Memphis mixed into those NCAA basketball scores.

In the last two games, VCU won 54-50 at George Mason and 71-65 at La Salle in the season’s first two true road games. That could factor into the Saint Louis vs VCU odds.

The defense has been the key in both wins, as George Mason and La Salle combined to shoot 35% from the field and go 6-of-38 on 3-pointers.

Utah State transfer Max Shulga, averaging a team-best 15.2 points per game, had 13 points in each of those wins.

Six of VCU’s last nine games went over the total.

Last Meeting

Saint Louis scored the first five points of the game but did not lead for the final 35 minutes as VCU won 90-78 as a 3.5-point favorite in the semifinals of the Atlantic-10 Conference tournament.

It was the second straight game between the teams to finish over the total after the previous three games all landed under the total.

Saint Louis vs VCU Betting Preview

The Billikens are just 3-8 this season when listed as the underdog, while VCU is 8-4 as a favorite.

The Rams have covered in only five of its 12 home games, with six of those games going over the total.

Saint Louis has dropped its last nine road games, including all five this season.

The total has gone over in four of Saint Louis’ last five games against Atlantic-10 teams, while six of VCU’s last nine games went over the total. The total is set at 148.5 in this matchup.

Look for VCU not only to win but to cover against the Billikens. Based on some of the recent scores, the total seems to be a bit on the high side.
