Buccaneers-Lions Odds: Total Inches Upwards
Point Spread Holds Steady After Early Move

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-8) visit the Detroit Lions (13-5) in the first game of the day on Sunday. With the game being played in Ford Field, weather won’t be a concern inside the dome.
The Detroit Lions are hosting their second playoff game of the year, the first time that has happened in team history. The Buccaneers-Lions odds show that Detroit is favored by 6.5 points and the total on the game has climbed to 49. The moneyline has climbed slightly from Detroit -265 to Lions -285.
Buccaneers vs Lions
Location: Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan
Day/Time:
Tampa Bay Relatively Healthy
The Buccaneers are about as healthy as a team can be at this point of the season. There are some players banged-up, but none of the key NFL players are expected to miss the game.
Several players, including wide receiver Chris Godwin, running back Chase Evans, and linebackers Yaya Diaby and Shaquil Barrett, did not participate in Wednesday’s walk-through. But Baker Mayfield was a full participant, not letting ankle/knee or rib problems sideline him.
Of the players who missed Wednesday’s practice, Godwin is the biggest contributor. He had four catches for 45 yards and a touchdown against Philadelphia. Evans had seven carries and one reception for the Bucs.
Detroit in Good Shape
The Lions also held a walk-through on Wednesday. Like Tampa Bay, Detroit held out several players. The biggest name is Kalif Raymond, who had 35 receptions for 489 yards and a touchdown during the NFL regular season. Center Frank Ragnow also was held out. But both players are expected to be good to go on Sunday.
Point Spread Holding Steady
The Buccaneers-Lions odds on the point spread have been holding steady following an early week move from Detroit -6 to Lions -6.5. NFL point spreads on playoffs don’t typically change much this late in the week. But they can, especially if the weather is bad. The betting percentages on the game are pretty well split.
The line of 6.5 does likely mean Detroit will be a popular teaser play for people’s NFL bets. The chance to take Detroit -.5 may be too much for some people to pass up.
Total Climbs Higher
The Buccaneers-Lions odds on the total have seen another move. The over/under has climbed from 48 to 48.5 and now to 49.
The move is a little surprising considering the average NFL score in a Tampa Bay game this season is 21.1-18.6. But that hasn’t stopped bettors from grabbing the over in a game that could see a lot of passing.
