Dallas Goedert’s Career Stats Show Incredible Consistency
We continue our player profile series with a look at the Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert, who is in the prime of his career after falling one game short of a Super Bowl ring. Goedert was a walk-on at South Dakota State, collecting 2,988 yards receiving with 21 touchdowns in his career as a Jackrabbit.
That was good enough for the Philadelphia Eagles to draft the 6-5 256-pounder in the second round, pick number 49. In his first five years in Philly, Goedert has averaged 599.4 yards per season and 666.7 since 2019. He came to the Eagles the year after they won the recent Super Bowl but got a taste of the Lombardi Trophy last season when Philadelphia lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35, after catching six passes for 60 yards.
Dallas Goedert’s career stats would have reflected a career year if he wasn’t for a fractured right ankle in 2022 that kept him on the sidelines for five weeks. NFL team stats show Goedert’s season was still enough to make him the third-leading receiver on the team, behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. Goedert finished 794 yards behind Brown, but with five more healthy weeks under his belt, those numbers would have been closer together, showing how much Goedert means to the Eagles’ success.
NFL standings today show everyone in the NFC East at 0-0 but unless their division can find an answer for the tight end, they’ll find themselves fighting for another NFC East Title with Dallas. We conclude our spotlight on the Eagles’ tight end by examining Goerdert’s impact on bettors.
Goedert’s Impact On Gambling
Many factors go into a team covering, but let’s take a look at how the Eagles have fared against the number since drafting Goedert in 2018. NFL odds have the Eagles’ chances of winning their second Super Bowl in seven years at +750.
Only the Kansas City Chiefs own better odds at +650. Since 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles are just 40-48 ATS (-1068). Only five other teams are worse in that span. Straight-up, the Eagles are 45-36 in that time, costing bettors 242 units against the moneyline. Those are surprising numbers, but remember Philadelphia mixed in a 4-11-1 season in 2020. As a 7-point favorite or more, Philadelphia is 8-8-1, eight of those games were last season when the Eagles were faced with covering a spread of seven or more eight times (4-4).
The more success they’ve had, the more their number will get jacked up for the betting public. As a favorite, the birds are just 24-31-1 (-866 units) and 17-26 ATS on the road (-989). Although it’s obvious that the Eagles will compete for supremacy in all of football again this season, it doesn’t seem the addition of Goedert has made a positive impact on bankrolls.
One more stat, over the last 10 seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles have failed to produce a winning season for bettors eight times. That does it for our spotlight on Dallas Goedert’s career stats, he will likely have another terrific season, but bettors beware with his team.
