NHL Match-Up: Nashville Predators vs Vegas Golden Knights Odds

Western Conference Clash Features two Teams that Need Wins

This game may not be the marquee match-up on today’s NHL schedule, but it does carry the most meaning to both teams. The Nashville Predators (28-25-2, 58 points) continue their six-game road trip with a stop at T-Mobile Arena to take on the Vegas Golden Knights (32-17-6, 70 points) who are playing their second game in as many days.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The Preds trail the St. Louis Blues by two points for the last wild card spot in the West with 27 games to play, while the Golden Knights are feeling the Edmonton Oilers breathing down their back for second place with just a 3-point lead in the Pacific Division.

Predators vs Knights odds opened Vegas as a -145 home favorite with a total of 6 (under -125) but wagers came in on Nashville pushing this number down to VGK -140 (6 under -120). The first puck is scheduled to drop at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT and can be seen on SCIPPS and Bally’s Sports South.

Predators Hope To Overcome The Vegas Flu

Now we don’t know if it is a real thing when it comes to hockey, but the Vegas flu is what locals call the “sickness’ that tourists get when they’re not used to the dryness of the desert.

It’s nothing more than the sniffles. When it comes to hockey that term was used when teams came to Vegas the first time around in their first couple years of existence. It didn’t have anything to do with a cold but with their performance being introduced to all Vegas has to offer.

After a few seasons, now more appropriately used when teams spend a prolonged amount of time here, and that is what we have tonight with the Predators playing their last game on Saturday in St. Louis (5-2 win). Nashville has been in the Entertainment Capital of the World for a few days making a first-period wager on the Knights attractive at first glance.

The trip already has some interesting nuggets after some of the NHL players asked if they could fly into Vegas on Saturday so they could attend a U2 concert at the Sphere. It was being considered until a home loss to the Dallas Stars, 9-2, forced GM Barry Trotz to put his foot down on those plans. It’s interesting that with all that’s surrounding the trip NHL odds are moving in favor of the Predators.

Knights Playing With Their Seafood

In a game that we were fortunate enough to attend, the Vegas Golden Knights overcame some big-time chances by the San Jose Sharks early to eventually pound the Sharks into nothing more than guppies at a department store in their 4-0 victory.

It was a needed victory with the Vancouver Canucks 10-points up on the defending champs in the Pacific Division and the Edmonton Oilers owning three games in hand on the Knights. Vegas has battled through injuries for much of the year again, but they are starting to get healthier by the day with goaltender Logan Thompson returning to make 29 saves in his first start since January 27th.

The NHL injury report got a little shorter with defenseman Shea Theodore announced as a healthy scratch after being removed from LTIR, but could return to the lineup as early as tonight. Forward Mason Morelli gave Vegas some fourth-line scoring in his NHL debut with a goal and assist to start his career.

Yesterday, Vegas was the better of the two NHL teams for 56 minutes and it wasn’t close. The fact they played yesterday and Nashville was idle gives the Knights a small edge tonight.

We’re Going Against Tendencies

Tonight provides a chance to hop on one of our favorite betting angles but instead of going with this angle, we’re going to ride it out. Both Vegas and Nashville have been strong under teams this season after the Knights cashed their fourth under in five NHL games and the Predators on a 7-4-1 under run.

We normally would go the other way but we can see this being a defensive game with both goaltenders (Adin Hill vs Juuse Saros) coming up big. Saros (21-21-2, 3.02 GA, .902 save percentage) was terrific in a 35-save performance against the St. Louis Blues, while Hill has been spectacular all season with a 14-4-2 record to go with his 2.06 goals against and a .931 save percentage.

We think the under 6 (-120) is the right side in this one. That does it for our Predators vs Knights odds preview, we wish you the best with your wagers tonight.
