Jets Continue to Fly High

The Winnipeg Jets were the surprise leader in the Central Division for long stretches earlier this season and now are looking up at the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche in the division standings. The Jets do have games in hand in both the teams ahead of them in the Central Division.

The Jets don’t appear to be going away quietly as they have trailed for less than five minutes during a current three-game winning streak. The last time out, Winnipeg took down the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Canucks.

Gabe Vilardi, who was held without a point in his previous six games, had two goals and an assist in the win against Vancouver.

When it comes to the Jets vs Flames odds, keep in mind that the Jets have won their last seven games when Vilardi has at least one goal.

The total has gone under in four of Winnipeg’s last five games.

Flames Offense Is Running Cold

When Calgary won the first three games during a trip to the East Coast, it looked like the Flames might be figuring things out in what has been a frustrating NHL season.

However, the road trip ended with a 2-0 loss to the New York Rangers. That started a stretch with three goals scored in three games. Calgary has scored two goals or less in five of its last 10 games to fall five points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Recent acquisition Andrei Kuzmenko leads Calgary with three goals in February. However, just one of them has come over the last four games. Yegor Sharangovich, a 20-goal scorer, has gone eight games in a row without scoring a goal. Nazem Kadri has one goal over the last 10 games.

Keep that in mind when looking at the Jets vs Flames odds.

The total has gone over in four of Calgary’s last six games against Central Division teams.

Last Meeting

Andrew Mangiapane had two goals and an assist as Calgary never trailed in a 5-3 win over visiting Winnipeg. The Jets outshot the Flames 37-22 in the game only to start the season off with a loss.

The game went over the six-goal total on a goal by Elias Lindholm with 1:32 left to play. Lindholm is now playing for the Vancouver Canucks.
