NHL Monday Game Predictions & Analysis

Kick off NHL Week With Pacific Division Clash in LA

Your four-game Monday National Hockey League schedule is highlighted by a Pacific Division clash between the Edmonton Oilers (21-17-4, 47 points) and the Los Angeles Kings (23-14-6, 52 points). The Oilers hold a two-game-in-hand advantage, giving this NHL midseason battle some extra emphasis. Edmonton is trying to keep the second-place Kings in their sites, trailing by seven points. The send-out number on this game is -110 each way with the total at 6.5 (o -120).

NHL Over/Under: Oilers 20-21 ATS, 23-14 / Kings 23-20 ATS, 21-19

The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a 3-2 OT loss to the Colorado Avalanche as a -125 favorite, while the Los Angeles Kings record a key road win over the Pacific-leading Vegas Golden Knights (5-1), Saturday, as a +135 dog. The win brought the Kings within four points of the division lead. The Oilers are the league’s fourth-highest-scoring team, averaging 3.51 goals per game, a number that has been supported by their lethal power play that has found success over 32% of their chances.

Edmonton has been better on the road (11-6-1, 23 points), than at home (10-11-2, 22 points). In our power rankings, Edmonton is in the middle of the pack (#16) but will likely be active at the deadline with this being a make-or-break season with many salary cap issues awaiting them after the season.

The Kings have a victory over the Oilers already this season, but history is on the Edmonton side with six wins in their last nine meetings. This game creates a good spot for Edmonton bettors after Los Angeles went into Vegas and whipped them for 60 minutes, Saturday, to come closer to the division lead.

Seasoned bettors will likely look at the Oilers after the Kings’ big win. It’s a classic situation that warrants a look at Jay Woodcroft’s team, who will be plenty motivated after losing to the Avalanche.

Predators logo Nashville Predators at Ottawa Senators Senators logo

Date, Time & Streaming:
NHL Over/Under: Predators -105 / Senators -115, 6 o -120

This number may look odd, but it’s right where it should be. The Senators are 23-16 against the puckline this season, making bettors 1063 units of profit, 3rd best in the league but just 22 units less than Winnipeg Jets and 1 unit less than the Boston Bruins.

Their 18-21 record isn’t going to cash many plus money moneyline wagers, but their puckline record indicates that they play hard and with a few more breaks, would be closer to a playoff spot than their current seven-point deficit. Although the total won’t be involved in our final selection, it should be worth noting that both of these NHL teams are a combined 45-31 to under this season.

Wise guys made their feelings known which way their money will go after Nashville was a -128 consensus favorite, a number that was pounded with Senators’ money.

With the Senators not out of the playoff discussion entirely, they know that games with the Predators are important to win if they want to send a message that perhaps something more could be done at the deadline to get them closer to the wild card mix. Our recommendation is to take Ottawa and the small price at home.

Ice Chips

Kraken logo Seattle Kraken at Montreal Canadiens Canadiens logo

Date, Time & Streaming:
NHL Over/Under: Kraken -180, 6.5 / Canadiens +155

The interest in this game should mostly come from the fact we think there’s a play on the under here. The Kraken and Ottawa combined for 12 goals, Saturday, but Seattle has fallen into an over/under-rotating trend that has now reached six games.

‘Dave Hakstol’s team controlling the pace, getting the lead early, and then smothering the Habs who are 29th in goals per game (2.62).’

As efficient as the Kraken are at scoring goals, they don’t put a lot of shots on the net, preferring to wait for quality or quantity. It’s easy to envision Dave Hakstol’s team controlling the pace, getting the lead early, and then smothering the Habs who are 29th in goals per game (2.62).

Don’t get caught up in the five goals Montreal scored against the Blues, it was the first time in 14 games that they’ve contributed more than three goals to a total.

Flyers logo Philadelphia Flyers vs Buffalo Sabres Sabres logo

NHL Over/Under: Flyers +180 / Sabres -215, 6.5 o -120

Not much to see in this one except there might be a chance to grab plus money under. The Sabres have been an over tea all season long but with the Flyers losing at home last night (6-2), it’s safe we’ll see the Philadelphia take a more conservative approach.

That does it for our NHL Monday game predictions, all the best this week nhl betting tips, nhl bets to make tonight.
