The Nashville Predators (37-25-4, 78 points) continue their four-game road trip in Winnipeg to face the Jets (41-18-5, 87 points) in what should be one of the more entertaining games on the NHL schedule today. Nashville is securely in a wild card spot the only question is will they be the first or second wild card?

Nashville Suffers Massive Loss
Early Tuesday, news came out that the Predators would be down one of their top-pairing defensemen Dante Fabbro after suffering an upper-body injury in their 4-3 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild after playing just three minutes. The team recalled Spencer Stastney from Milwaukee to take his place. Fabbro skated on the top pair with Roman Josi. Nashville is 16th in the NHL with 3.05 goals allowed per game this season. It’s not bad, but not good enough to shut down the better teams in the league.
The good news is, the schedule is just the 24th toughest with 16 games to play, but have two games remaining against the Winnipeg Jets. Fabbro had his best season with 12 points in 53 games and ranks third on the team with a +11 rating. The Predators are on a 10-0-2 run in their last 12 games.
Nashville is ranked 14th in our power rankings, within the Western Conference. Ultimately, we think Nashville will make the postseason but they’re not as good as the Vegas Golden Knights who have two games in hand.

It’s hard to know what bettors will be getting with the Jets down the stretch, so we have them at 10th in our latest power rating, fifth in the Western Conference. The question is, is this the team that loses to Seattle at home or the one that marches into Carolina as a +155 underdog and steals a 5-3 victory?
