Head-to-Head

Jordan vs South Korea predictions should take into account the fact that South Korea have never lost to Jordan. These teams did play in a four-goal thriller on the group stage AFC Asian Cup schedule, which finished all square. It took a stoppage time equalizer for South Korea to snag a 2-2 draw. All-time South Korea are 3-3-0 in this fixture and have never defeated Jordan by more than a one-goal margin.

Jordan Outlast Tajikistan

No matter what, Jordan’s Quarter-Final match vs Tajikistan was going to produce a first-time AFC Asian Cup Semifinalist. Tajikistan exceeded all expectations to get to the quarters and were an underdog story. Still, Jordan outlasted Tajikistan and deserved to advance to the Semis.

Yazan Al-Naimat had a couple of good chances in the first half but couldn’t convert. In the second half, Abdallah Nasib got on the end of a corner, which deflected off of Tajikistan’s Vahdat Hanonov and went into the net.

It ended up being the game’s only goal as Jordan came away with a 1-0 victory. This is the first time Jordan have won three matches at a single edition of the Asian Cup and they’ve outperformed the expected scores and odds.

Jordan have averaged two goals per game at the Asian Cup thus far. All of Al-Naimat, Mahmoud Al-Mardi and Musa Al-Taamari have scored two goals at the tournament. Al-Taamari, who plays for Montpellier, is Jordan’s only player participating in a top-five European league.

Bettors should note that forward Ali Olwan and defender Salem Al-Ajalin are suspended for Tuesday’s match. Should Jordan win or send this match into extra time, it’d be their first three-game unbeaten run since September 2022 to March 2023. Jordan have never reached a major final and this is a golden opportunity for them.

South Korea: Comeback Kings

By no means have South Korea been a good pick for soccer betting against the spread during the AFC Asian Cup. The Taegeuk Warriors are just 1-4 ATS and haven’t covered in any of their last four games. Still, South Korea have managed to reach the Semifinal of the Asian Cup for the fourth time in their last five appearances.

On Friday, Korea fell behind for a fourth straight match as Australia’s Craig Goodwin volleyed home in the first half. Double save in second half.

Despite lacking possession, Australia had some excellent chances to double their lead. A Jo Hyeon-woo double save prevented the Socceroos from extending their lead and kept Korea Republic in the match. Finally, in stoppage time for a fourth straight match, South Korea scored as Son Heung-min won a penalty.

Hwang Hee-chan buried the ensuing spot kick, which sent the match into extra time. In the round of 16, South Korea defeated Saudi Arabia in penalty kicks but the Taegeuk Warriors grabbed a winning goal this time.

Son scored a free kick from the edge of the box towards the end of the first extra time period and South Korea held on for a 2-1 win. Jurgen Klinsmann’s South Korea have a penchant for the dramatic as they’ve fallen behind in each of their last four matches.

All of those matches have finished in 90-minute draws. Bettors should be aware that Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae is suspended for the Semifinal due to yellow card accumulation.

Match Analysis & Odds

South Korea haven’t won the AFC Asian Cup since 1960 and this is an excellent opportunity for them to win their first major trophy for 64 years.

The first of our Jordan vs South Korea predictions is that the Taegeuk Warriors will win this match in normal time and break their draw streak here. South Korea have advanced past some of the AFC’s top teams, in Saudi Arabia and Australia, and they should be able to get the job done here.

Currently, South Korea are -195 favorites for Tuesday’s Semifinal and South Korea +1 sits at -115 odds. Jordan did lead vs South Korea for nearly the entire second half before Korea’s equalizer. Jordan are +600 underdogs for this one and Jordan +1 comes in at -115 odds. Notably, Jordan have managed to score in seven of their last eight games overall.

Meanwhile, South Korea haven’t yet kept a clean sheet at this tournament and key defender Kim is out suspended. So, we do like both teams to score here at +135 odds.

Concurrently, over 2, 2.5 goals at -115 odds is a solid pick. Son has scored three goals for South Korea so far and don’t be surprised if the Tottenham captain is able to get on the scoresheet once again.
