It’s one of the biggest events on the WTA schedule, and it will create plenty of headlines.
Swiatek Seeks Consecutive Titles
Swiatek was too good for the field at Indian Wells last week, and the world number one in the WTA rankings could go back-to-back.
The Polish 22-year-old continues to improve, despite already being the best player in the world, and that’s a scary thought.
She only had to beat Maria Sakkari in the final last week, but she dominated the tournament. She didn’t drop a set, including a 6-2, 6-1, win in the semi finals.

The 25-year-old is known as a choker, and she was beaten in the Round of 16 at Indian Wells by Emma Navarro.
Navarro is a solid player, but she shouldn’t be able to beat Sabalenka on a hard court with perfect conditions.
If she wants respect with WTA tennis odds, Sabalenka needs to start winning more WTA 1000 events. However, the beauty of tennis is that she gets another chance to rebound this week.

Gauff Eyes Home Victory
Florida native Gauff is another strong chance with betting markets, and she’s near the top of her game.
The 2023 US Open champion looks to defend her grand slam title later this year at Flushing Meadows, but for the meantime, she wants a victory in Miami.
She was a beaten semifinalist in Indian Wells, losing to Sakkari in three sets. We didn’t expect her to lose that game, but it was still a solid effort against a streaky player.
Gauff has a good record in the tournament, having made the semis in her first WTA 1000 event in 2021. She has only improved since then, so her 2024 WTA Miami Open odds are worth considering.
Navarro Rising in Stature
Emma Navarro is a name we could see feature over the next few years, and she comes off a tidy quarterfinal appearance.
The 22-year-old New York native lost to Sakkari in the quarters last week, but she looked good early in the match by winning the first set.
It follows on from a solid effort at the San Diego Open, and although she was hammered in the semifinals, she still made a deep run in the tournament.
Her results at the grand slams improved significantly in 2024 when making the third round at the Australian Open. It was the first time she made it past the second round, and she is putting results on the board.
Her odds should be generous, so bettors could find excellent value with the American.
