Wimbledon Men’s Betting Odds: Djokovic Is Favored to Win His Eighth Wimbledon Singles Title

Novak Djokovic Is Wimbledons Favorite Despite Losing His No. 1 Ranking to Carlos Alcaraz

Will An American Reach the Wimbledon Men’s Final for The First Time Since 2009?

There are a pair of warm-up tournaments going on and then the tennis world will turn their attention to Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam event in 2023. The Wimbledon Men’s Betting Odds favors eight-time champion, Novak Djokovic.

When looking at the tennis news, there will be no Rafael Nadal as his hip injury will keep him out of Wimbledon for the third time in the last four years.

Carlos Alcaraz moved back to No. 1 in the ATP rankings after winning the title at the Cinch Championships in London.

When looking at the Wimbledon betting news, Djokovic is priced at -140 in the Wimbledon outrights with Alcaraz next at +300. There is a large drop off after that with Daniil Medvedev next at +1600, Jannik Sinner at +1800, and five players coming in at +2800 or +3300.

Here’s a look at some of the contenders for Wimbledon with the tournament set to start on July 3.

Wimbledon 2023

Day/Time: Monday, 3 July – Sunday, 16 July
Location: All England Lawn Tennis Club in London, United Kingdom
Prize Money: £44,700,000
Last Edition Winner: Novak Djokovic

Djokovic Eyeing Title No. 8

After winning back-to-back Wimbledon titles in 2014 and 2015, Djokovic fell in the third round in 2016 and the quarterfinals in 2017 as he remained stuck on three Wimbledon titles.

He has not lost since, taking the singles titles in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. There was no tournament in 2020 due to the global pandemic.

Djokovic has already won the Australian Open and French Open and he is not yet ready to relinquish his spot as the dominant force to Carlos Alcaraz and the other young players eager to make some noise at Grand Slams. The Wimbledon Men’s Betting Odds are high on Djokovic’s title chances.

He is 27-4 so far this season and 12-0 in the Grand Slams as he is the favorite going into Wimbledon.

Alcaraz Ready for Coronation?

Alcaraz, who turned 20 in early May, is back at No. 1 and will be the top seed at Wimbledon. However, it is not a tournament where he has had that much success.

Alcaraz lost in the second round in 2021 and fell in the fourth round in 2022 as his only Grand Slam singles title to date has come at the US Open in 2022. Djokovic was not a part of that draw due to the travel restrictions on non-U.S. citizens who hadn’t received the COVID-19 vaccination.

The youngest player in ATP Tour history to ascend to the No. 1 ranking, Alcaraz lost decisively to Djokovic in the French Open semifinals as he was slowed by cramping issues. He is the No. 2 choice when it comes to the Wimbledon Men’s Betting Odds.

Alcaraz lost just one set to win the title at the Queen’s Club event to regain the No. 1 ranking. However, he faced just one top-20 player on his way to winning his fifth title in 2023.

Medvedev Ready to Make a Run?

The first two Grand Slams in 2023 resulted in early exits for Daniil Medvedev. He fell to No. 31 Sebastian Korda in straight sets in the third round after dropping a pair of tiebreakers.

After winning the Masters event in Rome with a pair of top-10 wins, expectations were high heading into the French Open. That all came crashing down with a five-set loss to No. 172 Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round.

He is just 2-2 since the French Open. Still, if anybody can prevent a final between Djokovic and Alcaraz, it could be Medvedev.

Injury Concerns for Sinner

It is never a good sign when a challenger for a Grand Slam has to pull out of one of the last matches before heading into the majors.

Sinner was down 7-5, 2-0 to Alexander Bublik at the quarterfinals in Halle, Germany when an injury forced Sinner to retire.

Sinner said that doctors have cleared him to play at Wimbledon. Being cleared to play is much different from being healthy and it would make sense for those betting on Wimbledon to be a little cautious when it comes to Sinner’s title chances. It also doesn’t help that Sinner has never advanced past the quarterfinals in a Grand Slam singles event.

Nick Kyrgios is also ailing a bit as he is dealing with a knee injury. Kyrgios reached the Wimbledon final in 2022 and can be a dangerous player if he controls his emotions and is healthy.

Kyrgios is one of three players priced at +2800 according to the tennis odds to win the title.

A Look At the U.S. Hopes

No American has reached the men’s singles final since Andy Roddick in 2009 with Pete Sampras the last U.S.-born player to win the Wimbledon title when he won four championships in a row from 1997-2000.

Taylor Fritz has +2800 odds to win the title, the best among the U.S. tennis players followed by Sebastian Korda at +3300.

Frances Tiafoe appears to be a little undervalued at +8000 while the big-serving John Isner comes in at +10000 as he prepares to play at Wimbledon for the 14th time.

There will also be plenty of eyes on local star Andy Murray. The two-time Wimbledon champion has +4000 odds to add to his Wimbledon title count.

Alexander Zverev (+2800), Holger Rune (+3300), and Stefanos Tsitsipas (+4000) are other names to keep an eye on.
