When & Where to Watch

If you’re into tennis betting then this grand slam is a must-see event, since the best in the world will be competing on the hard court of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.

The first round of the main draw competition begins on Monday, August 28th, and will be two weeks of fun in the sun (hopefully) before the men’s and women’s tennis finalists square off at center court of Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 9th and 10th.

Welcome Venus

Venus Williams will be making a record-setting 24th appearance at the US Open despite not having won a Grand Slam singles event since 2008 when she took home the hardware at Wimbledon. Venus, along with former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, was granted one of five wild card entrances to this year’s Open.

You might recall Venus received a wild card invitation last year but was ousted in the first round and is now ranked No. 533 in the world. Therefore, don’t bet on Venus Williams making a deep run but just enjoy whatever vestiges of her glorious past we can see when she takes the court for what will likely be one of the last major appearances of her career.

The older of the two Williams sisters is now 43 years old and has two US Open titles under her belt. But her last one was over 20 years ago and I’ve got to confess, I’ve always felt a bit bad for her having to walk in the shadow of baby girl Serena.

But before the tears start streaming down my cheek, I take a step back and consider she has seven major singles titles to her name, is firmly ensconced in the Tennis Hall of Fame, and has made millions of dollars. Yeah, she’s doing just fine, and, come to think of it, not once has she felt bad for me.

What Are the Odds?

If you’re feeling frisky and have an opinion on who will wind up this year’s winner then we recommend you head on down to your favorite oddsmaker and place your picks. Look below to have a clue on the US Open 2023 favorites.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the US Open 2022 was won by Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Norwegian Casper Ruud in four sets, and Polish sensation Iga Świątek, who dispatched Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in two sets.
