Slavia Prague Team Stats History
Founding and Early Success
A group of Czech students founded Slavia Prague in 1892 mainly on the initiative of Czech students. In the early days, they were one of the best European clubs. The Czech National team, which won the amateur European Championship in 1911, featured nine Slavia players.
Between the World Wars, Slavia was the best team in Czechoslovak soccer. They won their first Czechoslovak First League title in the Slavia Prague team stats in 1925. They won seven more league titles before the advent of WWII. They often played in the Mitropa Cup, for the best Central European teams and won the title in 1938.
One of the most legendary players in the Slavia Prague team stats is Josef Bican who played for the club from 1937-1948. He averaged 1.75 goals per game in the Czechoslovak First League with Slavia and won six league titles and two Czechoslovak Cups.
Decline and Subsequent Rise
After World War II, the club struggled to recapture its former success. There were two relegations to the second division in the Slavia Prague team stats in the 1960s. They managed to earn promotion back to the top flight in 1965.
Nearing 50 years without a major trophy, the club went through a revival period in the late 90s. In 1996, they won their 14th Czech title and reached the UEFA Cup semi-final. The next year, they won the Czech Cup for the first time since In 1998; they advanced to the UEFA Cup Winner´s Cup quarter-finals and the next year they made the 1999 UEFA Cup quarter-finals.
Slavia won the Czech Cup again in 1999 and in 2002 and frequently appeared in European competitions. One of the best periods in the club’s history started in the late 2000s. They won six Czech First League championships from 2008 to 2021. They also won Czech Cup titles in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023. As a result of their 2023 Czech Cup victory, they advanced to the Europa League playoffs. There, they defeated Dnipro and Zorya Luhansk to qualify for the group stage.
Slavia Prague’s Europa League betting odds may be the ones to watch. They’ve reached the quarter-final in their last two appearances in the competition. Betting advice also suggests that they’re one of the top contenders to win the 2023-24 Czech First League.
