Boxing Feist on April 27: Peter McGrail vs Marc Leach (Subbing for O’Quinn)
April 27th will see the Marc Leach vs Peter McGrail boxing match take place at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Peter McGrail will take on former British super-bantamweight champion Marc Leach, the latter substituting JaRico O’Quinn who withdrew for personal reasons. The duo will face off in Liverpool.
O’Quinn earned a knockout victory against McGrail in December, setting up what would’ve been a rematch between the pair. Now it’s a no-go. Instead, the main event now becomes an all-British affair as Leach looks to come back from several consecutive defeats.
McGrail’s Unavenged Loss to O’Quinn
Previously, on December 16th, 2023, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Ja’Rico O’Quinn staged an epic comeback in a Super Bantamweight bout. Despite being floored twice and trailing on the scorecards, O’Quinn delivered a stunning one-punch knockout victory over Peter McGrail.
The fight, set for 10 rounds at a limit of 122 pounds, saw Detroit’s O’Quinn face off against Liverpool’s McGrail in what was McGrail’s first U.S. bout. As the clock ticked to 2:19 in the fifth round, O’Quinn unleashed a devastating counter right hand in response to McGrail’s straight left, sending McGrail tumbling through the ropes and sealing the fight dramatically.
