Fantasy Football Frenzy: Three Running Backs to Approach with Caution
Your Fantasy Football Picks 2023 Count! Gear Up for Draft Day in the Know!
As the NFL preseason concludes, the excitement of fantasy football drafts is hitting its peak. We’ve got some crucial advice for you. Here are three running backs you might want to reconsider picking when your turn comes around.
Derrick Henry – RB, Tennessee Titans
Despite a strong showing last season, Henry’s situation has shifted. The Titans struggled offensively, yet Henry remained a fantasy force as the RB4 overall and in points per game.
But hold on! There’s a hefty price tag on the 29-year-old in PPR leagues this year, ranking him as RB5 and 10th overall.
Keep in mind Henry’s workload declined slightly in 2022. His rushing attempts dropped from 27.4 per game in 2021 to around 21.8. His yards per game also hit a low since 2018, at 96.1. With the addition of receiver DeAndre Hopkins and rookie RB Tyjae Spears in the mix, the Titans might lean more on the passing game. Keep the football standings on your mind at all times.
If you’re picking 10th for your Fantasy Football picks 2023, consider a wide receiver like Stefon Diggs and wait for Nick Chubb or Tony Pollard in round two.
Joe Mixon – RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Mixon saw career highs in receptions and yards last season, but his overall performance didn’t rise from RB4 in 2021. He struggled, with fewer yards per game (58.1) and less than 900 total yards.
Yet, Mixon is ranked as RB9, which seems high given his trajectory. Plus, rookie Chris Evans might take over the pass-catching role from Samaje Perine.
Mixon’s 2022 performance seemed inflated by one big game. He posted a whopping 55.1 points in PPR formats after a five-touchdown spree. His fantasy numbers were generally modest.
Kenneth Walker III – RB, Seattle Seahawks
Walker’s debut season was solid, landing him as the RB17 in points per game. But be wary with your Fantasy Football Picks 2023! He’s now being drafted as the RB18.
Here’s the catch: Walker’s receiving game isn’t strong, and the Seahawks drafted RB Zach Charbonnet in the 2023 NFL Draft. With just 1.8 receptions per game in 2022, Walker’s role could decrease further. Fantasy Football scoring is a tricky topic, indeed!
Seattle is diversifying its offense with new additions. Walker’s price might not be justified unless injuries shake things up.
