Copenhagen vs Man City Head-to-Head

This will be the third-ever match on the Champions League schedule between FC Copenhagen and Manchester City. Last season, in the group stage, Man City picked up a 5-0 win at home as Erling Haaland scored twice.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

These sides also played to a scoreless draw in the reverse fixture. FC Copenhagen and Man City also met in the 2008-09 UEFA Cup, where City advanced 4-3, on aggregate. Copenhagen are a winless 0-2-2 vs Manchester City all-time.

Copenhagen Not to be Underestimated

FC Copenhagen’s last competitive match was two months ago, when they defeated Galatasaray in the Champions League. Lukas Lerager scored the game’s only goal and also picked up a second yellow in the 90th minute. That means the Danish midfielder will be suspended for this match.

With the win, Copenhagen finished in second place in the Group A UCL standings, behind Bayern Munich and ahead of Galatasaray and Manchester United. Nearly nobody picked the Danish side to advance to the knockout stage.

Yet, they were highly competitive in the group stage and picked up at least a point vs each team in their group. Copenhagen even ended Bayern Munich’s 17 game group stage winning streak by drawing with them in Munich.

Even though they sit at +50000 odds to win the UCL, Copenhagen are not to be underestimated. In the group stage, Lerager led the UCL team with three goals but Mohammed Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves both got on the scoresheet twice.

Although the Danish Superliga has been on hiatus for the last couple of months, Copenhagen have played friendly matches in the Atlantic Cup recently.

Last Thursday, they defeated Molde 3-1. Bettors can expect defender Davit Khocholava to miss out due to injury but Lerager should be the only other absentee. Here, the Copenhagen vs Man City odds price the hosts as +1100 underdogs.

Haaland and De Bruyne Back for Manchester City

After missing two months due to an injury, Erling Haaland returned a couple weeks ago vs Burnley. On Saturday vs Everton, the Norwegian striker finally scored his first goals since November.

Haaland scored a right-footed strike on a scramble in the box and outmuscled an Everton defender and slotted home past Jordan Pickford in the 2-0 Man City victory. With Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne back and in good form, Man City could be an excellent soccer betting pick over the next few months.

Man City are currently on a ten game winning streak, in all competitions and have won every match they’ve played in 2024. Pep Guardiola’s side are rounding into form at just the right time as they chase back-to-back UCL titles and a fourth straight EPL crown.

Even though he missed a bunch of time, Haaland leads the Premier League, with 16 goals. The big Norwegian also scored five times in the UCL group stage and is joint-leader.

Even though De Bruyne missed the entire group stage, Man City still went a perfect 6-0. City are unbeaten in their last 19 Champions League games and are looking as dangerous as ever.

Phil Foden recently scored a hat trick in a win over Brentford and Guardiola has options like Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku in forward areas. City also have a clean bill of health heading into Tuesday’s match.

Copenhagen vs Man City Match Analysis & Odds

It’s almost cruel that Copenhagen’s first competitive match in two months is vs Manchester City. Still, it is a momentous occasion for them and their fans as this is just their second knockout stage appearance in UCL history.

Still, the Copenhagen vs Man City odds price the hosts as +1100 underdogs. Copenhagen +1.5 sits at +110 odds as well and both of their group stage losses came by just a one-goal margin.

Man City -1.5 is priced at -130 odds and they’ve won each of their last three matches by a two-goal margin. City are also -355 favorites for the first leg and they’re on an eight game winning streak in the Champions League, dating back to last season.

A draw also comes in at +425 odds and that would be a solid result for Copenhagen here. They’re still going for their first win over Manchester City but that becomes more complicated with De Bruyne and Haaland back.

Both over and under three goals come in at -110 goals for this one and Man City are expected to do most of the scoring. On their ten game winning streak, City have kept six clean sheets and Copenhagen under 0.5 goals shows -120 odds.
