EPL Matchday 15 Odds: Fixtures Preview & Betting Tips
Chelsea and Arsenal Contest London Derby
Surprises in EPL So Far
The EPL table certainly holds some surprises just over a third of the way through the Premier League season. Liverpool have lost twice in a row to bottom half sides and sit in ninth place. Meanwhile, Arsenal are still leading the league and Newcastle United have played their way into the top four. In fact, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle hold the Premier League’s longest active win streak, at three matches. However, it’ll be a challenge for Arsenal to stay atop the EPL table this weekend as they face rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Let’s take a look at that match and some other relevant EPL Matchday 15 odds.
Games of the Week:
Manchester City vs. Fulham
Date, time (TV):
Location: Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Manchester City capped off an unbeaten Champions League group stage performance with a 3-1 win over Sevilla. Erling Haaland was on the sidelines with a foot injury and the striker is doubtful for Saturday’s match vs. Fulham. Julian Alvarez, who scored and assisted on the other goals, could start if Haaland is out. Haaland’s injury isn’t too serious, though, and he’ll have plenty of time to recover during the World Cup.
City’s opponents Fulham have exceeded expectations this season and are in seventh place. They’re unbeaten in their last four matches and have one of the league’s most prolific strikers, Aleksandar Mitrovic. Mitrovic only trails Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the Golden Boot race, and has nine goals so far.
Even without Haaland, Man City are 2½-goal favorites. The EPL Matchday 15 odds also price them at -800 to win and they’ve won each of their six previous home matches this season. City are also on a ten match EPL home winning streak dating back to last season.
Fulham show just +1800 odds to win and a draw is also seen as unlikely, at +850 odds. It’s not often the over/under goal total stands at four goals but that’s the case for Sunday’s match. The under is accordingly priced at -140 odds.
Chelsea vs. Arsenal
Date, time (TV):
Location: Stamford Bridge, London
Get ready for a London derby on Sunday as Chelsea host Premier League leaders Arsenal. Former Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, who was exiled by coach Mikel Arteta, will face the Gunners for the first time as a member of Chelsea. The striker has just one Premier League goal in five appearances but will undoubtedly be motivated for this one.
In what’s expected to be the most competitive match of the weekend, Chelsea show +160 odds while Arsenal sit at +165. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last three matches at Stamford Bridge, though, and won 4-2 there last season. Left back Oleksandr Zinchenko and star winger Bukayo Saka are questionable for the Gunners but otherwise Arteta can call upon a strong side. Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, Reece James and Wesley Fofana are all expected to be out.
A draw can also be found at +240 Premier League betting odds. Chelsea are currently winless in their last three Premier League matches, with two draws during that span. Most recently, the Blues fell 4-1 to coach Graham Potter’s former club Brighton. Meanwhile, Arsenal decimated Nottingham Forest, 5-0 but drew in their last road match to Southampton.
Tottenham vs. Liverpool
Date, time (TV):
Location: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
Liverpool’s form has been one of the biggest conundrums in soccer this season. They seem to win in big matches but stumble vs. inferior teams. After handing Manchester City their first loss of the season, the Reds have lost to both Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. Their loss to Leeds was the first time they lost at Anfield in the EPL since March 2021.
Then, Liverpool also handed Napoli their first loss of the season in the Champions League. With a match on the EPL schedule vs. Tottenham on Sunday, perhaps the big game version of Liverpool will show up again.
Spurs also had midweek Champions League success with a 2-1 win over Marseille to win Group D. However, Heung-Min Son was injured in the match and is questionable for Sunday’s game. Short on attackers, with Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison also recovering from injuries, Tottenham will rely heavily on Harry Kane. Kane has seven goals in 15 appearances vs. Liverpool but has only beaten them once in his Tottenham career.
Antonio Conte wasn’t on the touchline for Spurs’ match vs. Marseille due to a UEFA suspension but he’ll be his ever-animated self on Sunday.
That’s not expected to change come Sunday, as Liverpool show +125 odds to go on and win. Meanwhile, Tottenham sit at +190 odds and a draw is priced at +275. Both meetings last season were incredibly exciting affairs and finished in draws.
That said, moneyline underdogs Tottenham are favored to cover the +½ spread, at -145 odds. Antonio Conte wasn’t on the touchline for Spurs’ match vs. Marseille due to a UEFA suspension but he’ll be his ever-animated self on Sunday. A three-match EPL losing streak is rare for Liverpool so expect them to be up for this one.
Around the League
Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch bought himself some time with their brilliant 2-1 win over Liverpool. Marsch’s Leeds lost the previous four EPL matches but Crysencio Summerville’s 89th minute winner sealed the victory. A win over Bournemouth this weekend could outsave his job and potentially push Leeds four points clear of the relegation zone.
Leeds are -135 favorites and are also priced at -140 odds to score two or more goals. It’d be the first time this season they manage to score multiple goals in three games straight. Meanwhile, +350 underdogs Bournemouth have dropped three straight matches.
Newcastle United remained in the top four with a dominant 4-0 win over Aston Villa. Miguel Almiron got on the scoresheet for a third straight game and has been a revelation this season.
The winger got off to a slow start in his Newcastle career but only four players in the EPL have more goals than him this season. He’ll look to add another goal to his tally on Sunday at Southampton. The Magpies are -110 favorites vs. a Southampton side that have the lowest home winning percentage in the EPL, at 17 percent.
New Aston Villa coach Unai Emery has a difficult first match in charge vs. Manchester United. Emery won the Europa League with Villarreal in 2021 and reached the UCL semifinals last season.
Heading into Thursday’s Europa League match at Real Sociedad, Man U are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions. Villa, who are veering dangerously close to the relegation zone, show just +255 odds to win. United are priced at even-money odds but were winless in two EPL matches vs. Aston Villa last season. The two EPL teams will also meet four days later at Old Trafford in a third round EFL Cup tie.
