Newcastle vs Tottenham Head-to-Head

This has been an incredibly high scoring fixture in recent times. Each of the last six English Premier League fixtures between Newcastle and Tottenham has finished with three or more goals. Those matches have averaged five goals and Tottenham defeated Newcastle 4-1 back in October.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Still, the Magpies did take down Tottenham 6-1 at St. James’ Park last April and have won two of the last three meetings between the two sides. Tottenham have won three of their last five road games vs Newcastle, though.

Newcastle Keep Second Clean Sheet of 2024

Newcastle went on the road to Fulham over the weekend and managed to keep just their second Premier League clean sheet of 2024. Granted, Fulham did have a lot of chances but it was the Magpies who were more clinical in the match.

Newcastle’s Fabian Schar had a goal called back for a foul but they got on the board moments later. Harvey Barnes played a cross in which was only half-cleared and Bruno Guimaraes made no mistake of sending it into the bottom left corner.

Even though they’re missing a bunch of players, Newcastle have conceded just one goal in their last two matches. That’s the fewest they’ve allowed in a two game period in the EPL since December.

At the moment, Newcastle are in eighth place in the English Premier League table, just two points behind sixth-placed Manchester United. While Eddie Howe’s side aren’t in the race for the Champions League, the Europa League would be an excellent consolation.

Striker Alexander Isak is tied for sixth in the Premier League, with 15 goals, and he’s been key for Newcastle lately. The Swedish international has scored five times in his last five Premier League matches.

While Newcastle seem to be treading water, goalkeeper Nick Pope and defenders Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento, Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are all out. Midfielders Lewis Miley and Joelinton are sidelined, along with forwards Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron.

Joe Willock and Matt Targett are also listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game.

Positive First Season for Spurs Under Postecoglou

Tottenham are now in an excellent position after Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. Spurs are level on points with fifth-placed Aston Villa but Tottenham are ahead on goal difference and have a game in hand on Villa.

In the match vs Forest, Spurs defenders Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro both got on the scoresheet. Tottenham’s opener was on an own goal, after Timo Werner’s cross was deflected into the net. However, Chris Wood leveled the score before halftime and the Tottenham defenders scored after the break.

Spurs’ Son Heung-min ranks fourth in the EPL stats, with 24 goal contributions. Son assisted van de Ven on Sunday The Korean has scored three goals and provided three assists in his last six Premier League games.

Since joining on loan from RB Leipzig in January, Werner has fit in seamlessly on the left wing. His pace causes lots of problems for defenders and he’s one to watch this weekend.

Coach Ange Postecoglou has done an excellent job in his first season as Tottenham coach, especially after losing Harry Kane. Spurs have compiled a solid 6-6-3 record on the road this season and they’ve lost just one of their road Premier League games in 2024 so far.

Tottenham have also kept more possession of the ball than their opponents in their last 17 EPL matches.
